About ARIES Astronomical Observatory

ARIES Astronomical Observatory, situated on Manora peak, is around 9 km from Nainital. ARIES stands for Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences. Established in 1955, this observatory is the centre for astronomical studies. Besides, artificial satellites can also be tracked in this observatory.

The observatory was established with a motive of conducting astrophysical research. Currently, research on stellar, solar and theoretical streams of astrophysics is going on in the observatory. Visitors can access to the observatory only with prior permission.
