Abad Copper Castle Hill Valley Resorts, Munnar
Pothumedu, Idukki District, Munnar, Kerala 685612
Along with family for a official trip I visited this place in the month of February. Very good city to visit. The hotel was located at a convenient place. The outlook of the hotel was very appealing Reception area was very good, interiors were good. Rooms were good to stay. It was clean and neat. The service was excellent. The staff's were cooperative and room service was on time. The food and drink was good to taste. There was complimentary breakfast was provided by the hotel.
It just seemed like the right place for the occasion. Four days into our marriage, all we needed was some place that would cut-us off from the rest of the world and throw us into each other every now and then! Munnar was the choice since we hadn\'t planned our journey well in advance. We drove by our car (a brand new Maruti Baleno) and took 5 hours to reach Munnar from Cochin. The roads were all good and so unlike India. But, we should probably caution you about the roads in Munnar - craters like the moon\'s surface. \"Copper Castle\" was so helpful and made sure that we had our stay and accomodation arranged and sorted out in the best possible way, even though we had planned for our trip only 2 days back. As we checked into the hotel, we were greeted with a mug of Hot Chocolate - and it felt like the best I have ever had, especially when you are in a place that gets foggy, cold and sooo silent (except for the waterfall below the resort)! During our stay at the hotel, we found that the place was best for any couple who just are in short of time to arrange your honeymoon. There are a couple of places like Echo Point, Top Station etc. that you could drive to... lots and lots of tea estates en route and life is bound to be romantic! We did have our car to enjoy the beauty of Munnar, but just in case you dont have one - ask the reception for assistance and they can arrange a cab for you to go around. Apart from all the natural scenery of the location, Copper Castle also has a indoor games section with carroms, table tennis, playing cards being thrown around for those who are looking for some indoor activity. If there is a trekker in the team and would love to have some adventure, I\'d suggest the trek down to the water body beneath the resort. The sound is so attracting that you almost run down to the waterfall... (be careful for the leeches, there are quite a few you\'ll find here... ) I\'d not be doing justice if I never mentioned the food... yum! yum! Anyone who loves the delicacies of Kerala, don\'t even bother looking around for another place. Copper Castle just has some of the best Chicken curries. We were on a package for 3 days, and that entitled us to one breakfast + lunch/dinner per day... and that being a buffet, we made sure that we ate our tummy full before we moved back to our room... One let down though was with the hotel not serving alcoholic drinks. But, to be honest, if you are really keen to get some drinks, take a drive to the Munnar town and you\'ll find a shop or two that serves you the right kind of whisky for the occasion. :-) On the whole, a wonderful experience and a best place for honeymooners!
I came to know the hotel through my friend. We had two nights stay over there. The hotel is around 3 kms from Munar town. It is situated at one side of a valley. The view from the hotel room was so good that we din\'t want to leave the hotel to visit other places in munnar. The hotel can be seen from the cochin munnar road few minutes before u reach munnar. Room is very neat and maintained properly. Room service was excellent, we were given a welcome drink on arrival, the food was also very good with resonable price. Lunch available till 3 PM and Dinner till 10:00 PM. Complementary breakfast is provided. The hotel also has a small view point where we can sit and watch the sunset with a coffee. Only thing is that we have to carry the coffee to the viewpoint from restaurant, They don\'t come serve us over, but there is board in the view point which says call the restaurant to get a coffee and snacks over there. The hotel also has one Table Tennis table, two carrom boards in activities room.
In the month of January I had planned this trip with family in a holiday. The destination was excellent. The gardens at that place were very good. The location of the hotel was excellent. It was located on the hill top. The appearance of the hotel was excellent. The view was too good and the place was peaceful. The reception was excellent. Complimentary drink was provided on arrival. The lounge was too good. The room was excellent. The view from the room was very good and all the amenities were working well. The service was excellent and very prompt. The food was excellent. There was lot of variety provided in food by the hotel. Complimentary breakfast was provided. The activities were excellent. Wi-Fi was available and was complimentary. The overall experience of this hotel stay was excellent.
There was little bit delay during allocation the room. I booked AC room there and it was fantastic. Pillow, blanket and other things were neat and tidy. All basic amenities were available like TV, AC, geyser, etc and they all were in working condition. I think it was a four star hotel. Behaviour of the staff members was fine and services were also nice. Inside and outside look of the hotel was beautiful. Location of the hotel was excellent. I did not face any difficulty to find this hotel. I took my food inside the hotel and it was very nice. Many varieties were available there like North Indian food, Kerala food, veg and non-veg, etc. Swimming pool was available there but I am not sure about other activity. Travel desk facility was available there.
I stayed here for 2 nights in the month of October 2014. The Hotel is a bit difficult to find, if you are reaching Munnar after sunset. The approach road is Bison Valley Road. It is connected to the main road by a single lane Iron Truss bridge (may be built by the British) and it is hidden by a huge deck that makes it to see the bridge. However, a good thing is that the hotel is precisely pinned on Google Maps. The unique thing about this hotel is that it is reversed as it is situated on a hill slope. The parking is on the level below the Bison Valley Road, on the same level is a reception and there are 4 floors that read as -1 to -4. -2 floor has good balconies. At the reception, the staff is good and helpful, they will guide you through your stay in Munnar. The Kitchen/Restaurant is at the same level as the reception. The food at the restaurant is good. We had our dinner over there. Even the kitchen staff is warm and willing to help. Rooms, on the floors below, are spacious with french windows on the outside (except the 4th floor). The rooms have a nice feel to them, the only downside is that the toilet fittings are old. The best part about the hotel is its location. A stunning viewpoint is at a walking distance and the view of the bridge from the hotel is vintage. The canvas keeps changing every hour. And the air is fresh full of Oxygen. Note: The Hotel doesn't have Lift. if you have knee problems then inform the office at the time of booking so that they can arrange you a higher floor (lesser to walk). They allocate the higher floors to the old aged.
