It was an awesome experience at Abby Dhama. We were there on 30th November to 1st December. The location was very peaceful and great ambience. Our room at down stairs was awesome. And the veranda through the coffee estate is great. Evening with baji and bread and butter with a cup of coffee. Food was OK for us with 3 options of Non veg and bonfire was also good. Should go there don't miss it.

Travellers,
Finalised on this place after much searching and checking reviews.Starting from booking the place through a call to Mr.Chidvilas till we checked out , it was a text book perfect stay .Cent percent satisfaction. It is a peaceful dhamma, good place to unwind.
This place is situated on the way to Abbi falls ,hence abbhydhama:)..
The place is all what is expected, no doubt it was awarded the Excellence award by Trip Advisor.
The place is set amidst coffee estate offers both traditional stay (Halemane- like individual cottages amidst estate) and Modern stay(Hosamane-stay within the main building) .
Both rooms have all modern required facilities for comfort stay.
For people loving independently , I recommend take Halemane as it is set amidst coffee estate and all is u r's.
For people who wanna stay within , I recommend Hosammane.
We were welcomed warmly by the chirping sound in nature & Mrs. Chidvilas and we were amazed by the landscape the entire stay is setup. It's carefully and aesthetically designed.
We were bowled out by the hospitality shown by Mr & Mrs. Chidvilas, Mr. Vijayraghavan who constantly took care of our needs. They took a few extra steps to make the stay comfortable. I must mention that they are doing this with a PASSION...and anything with PASSION is always done whole heartedly...
Now the other positive side:
**Some things can't be rated, this is a passion which they do and they don't consider this as a work which will make u feel comfortable in the stay:)
**Dinner, Breakfast is too homely, u feel it's healthy and good. We were amazed to find it was a purely vegetarian home stay and later they agreed for serving non-veg also for catering to the travellers need. Kudos to you for catering to the needs of the travellers!!!!!
PS: If you require Non-veg , it has to be informed earlier.
**Vijayraghavan took us & showed us the kitchen and how food was prepared. It was beyond our expectation , we were bowled out by it....
**Mr. Shiva, the house boy was too helpful. He was ready to help with a smile always.
**Take u r time and stroll down the estate , you will enjoy the nature and chirping sound of cricket's and the birds. You will fall in love with the place:)
**Enjoy the tranquility of the nature, visit the swimming pool and watch nature which unfolds into vast areas into horizon.
**Take guidance before entering swimming pool.
**You will feel hospitality at every step, they make sure u r stay is comfortable:)
**There is no room service , only self service , hence you need to go to breakfast area or dining area, they are always ready to serve you with smile:)
** All rooms are provided with mosquito coils but still you may encounter few inside halemane as the cottage is set amidst the estate...
**Another interesting fact:They provide Drivers with a separate rest area:)
My words: YOu will certainly enjoy the stay and be bowled out by the hospitality shown by Mr & Mrs Chidvilas,Mr.Vijayraghavan. I wish their tribe increase and they continue their service with their Charming smile & Passion.
*********MUST VISIT ,MUST STAY IF YOU ARE IN COORG*******************************

Room Tip: If you like being within nature halemanne amidst nature will suit or go in for hossamane.

I reached the place via Greenline bus service and the owner told me that it will reach Coorg by 6-7 AM in morning, but it reached at 4 and I have made a booking for 2 days in this home stay, 1 day before leaving for coorg I called the owner and told him that we will be reaching early by 6-7 AM, as our booking was from 12 and we were doing early check-in so I thought of informing him earlier, as a part of their policy they don't allow early check-in but he told he will charge some amount for a room till 12 and then we will be shifted to other room, I was accompanied by my grandparents, my aunt, my cousin and my friend.

We reached the place via cab paying Rs 500 to the cab driver from private bus stand as we didn't have any option from private bus stand, as we reached the place there were no lights, no guards, and the door of estate locked, we called the owner several times and he didn't pick the call, for half an hour we stood there and kept on banging the gates with elder parents, in such rains, then we decided to leave to the bus stand and wait there or arrange some hotel there only, as soon as we reached the bus stand and we tried once more. The guy received the call talking harshly and shouting at us "why are you disturbing me early morning and better you stay back there only till 12" were his words, then we pleaded a lot and he asked us to come, he gave us a room worth Rs 1000 from morning 6 to 12 that too 6 people in a room and was smelling badly like a warehouse. We were very much annoyed with his behaviour but we kept quiet as our family was there.

We had asked for some cab details from him and at that time he started a discussion about dinner and we asked for the menu, we told him that we will call him by 3:30 PM If we will have dinner here only, when we reached the hotel at night, the servants came to us asking when we will have the dinner and we refused saying we already had and we had not ordered it, then other one came to us asking whether we bought non veg food and we said no, then the owner called in my grandparents room and started shouting that you have wasted food. Then my friend went asking him about the issue and said that you spoiled my day and even he told he will throw us out of hotel as we were staying free of cost in it that was the last time we decided to leave the place next morning even though we had paid for one more day.

When guests make very little homework to know about place where they stay before making bookings through agencies, miscommunication, misunderstandings sometimes happens.
Madam Vaishali booked through GOIBIBO and since the phone number of the guest was not given to us, it was difficult for us to call them for any assistance. A day prior to their arrival Mam called and said that they would reach by 7 a.m. I gave phone number of our promoter Mr. Vijay to call when they arrive at 7.00.a.m. I made it clear that check in time is 12 noon and only wash area available till the earlier guest checks out. But as said in the review bus arrived early. Things would have been smoother if they had stuck on their timings of 7 a.m. since the gate opens at 6.30 am, its true no one responded till 6.00 a.m. To keep a watch man or a guard its not a resort but a pure estate homestay and guests appreciates that gates are not open in the dark as a matter of security. Looking at the missed call Promoter Mr.Vijay extended a courtesy call only to receive a very rough and unwarranted response. Still a dormitory with 3 beds was given for rest till 12 noon with breakfast both free. Morning experience, rain etc., naturally might have spoiled the mood of the guest.
As far as dinner is concerned, all would appreciate that we offered dinner and did not deny as our PRINCIPLE says \'Anna Datho Sukhi Bhava\'(Who offer food be happy!). When the guest said he did not order food, it was a pain for Mr.Vijay that food is wasted and to be thrown out(not the guest to be thrown out as mentioned in the review). I was away that day and next day morning, on the breakfast table I personally served hot dosas to each one and they were happy and they did not complain me anything. But in the review they have said that I, the owner spoke and threatened them which is far from truth and lack of homework again.

We respect the guests for they are valuable to us. Only request with the guests is to communicate with us before their arrival as far as timings, food, weather etc., are concerned.

Our trip to Madikeri's main highlight turned out to be this gem of a resort. With a sprawling plantation of coffee and multiple fruits, a walk around the estate itself is refreshing. The rooms too are clean and the views are also breathtaking.

It lies in between the main market and Abby falls which also is amazing to see in the rainy season. The service is appreciable as everyone here is homely and helpful. They serve vegetarian food and each of the items are palatable. I went there with my parents and wife, and enjoyed the one night stay thoroughly.

It was a good hotel. They charged Rs. 3000 per day including breakfast. It was located at 4 km distance from the town. It was away from the town. It is famous for spices and coffee. Appearance wise. It was very nice. It was a comfortable and relaxing place away from the city. Staff was not required there because everything was available in the room. Swimming pool was there. Rooms were spacious and clean. No view was available from there. Hot water facility for 24 hours was available there. I had food there. Quality of food was nice. They provided campfire in winters and they also have playing area for kids. It was more than better. Madikeri as a place is very good. Location of the hotel was also very good. Appearance wise, it was good. Booking and front office people were very good. There was no room service. Housekeeping was good and on time. Food was also good. Room was very good. No suggestion is needed. I will recommend it to other tourists.

This hotel was a good place. It was an isolated area. The hotel was located very near to the coffee plantation. The staff members were kind and helpful. Appearance of the room was very good. Rooms were well maintained, clean and tidy. There was view from the room. All amenities were in working condition, the food was good, there is only vegetarian food provided in the hotel. If we request they will get from outside. The hotel is value worth. The only suggestion is to provide Non Veg food. There was no delay in check in and check out. There is swimming pool and there is no GYM.

When I visited Madikeri then I stayed in Abbydhama Estate Home Stay. My overall stay was nice. I booked my room on line. Ambiance of the hotel was nice. Surrounding of the hotel was fantastic. Staff behavior was helpful and friendly. Staff manager and housekeeping services were nice. Food facility was available there and it was delicious. Veg food was available there. Cab facility was available there. I will recommend this hotel for travelers. Everything was nice. This home stay was value for money. Madikeri as a destination place is wonderful. Booking and front office peoples were very nice. It was an old bungalow type cottage. Rooms were superb and all basic amenities were available. Nothing was available in activities. I traveled there with my family for relaxation in the month of November 2011.

I stayed here with my wife for two days and it was really a good place. They have three types of accommodations halemane (old house), hosamane (new house) Henchu mane (hut house). Each one of them have different prices. They have provided all the required facilities which is really good. Whatever the photos we see in their website are correct photos.

The owners are really cooperative and personally take care of guests if any help is required. Food was really excellent we never felt to go out for food the quality taste were really good. Hosa mane is fantastic, the rooms are big and very modern. The balcony had coffee plant view which is excellent. We roamed and took enough snaps in estate almost for half a day. We can spend one day easily in estate itself. All the accommodations are in b/w coffee plantations which is excellent.

Over all its superb home stay.
