Excellent hotel with a wonderful experience

5.3/7
Posted 22 Feb, 2014

Ooty has always been our most favourite hill station in the south! It is called the "Queen of Hill Stations" for a reason and the reason is the awesome beauty of Ooty. Never have we been so mesmerized by nature! My wife and I spent a month vacationing in Ooty, last year, away from the hustle and bustle of the cities, and our home away from home was Hotel Adarsh International. We had just spent a year in Germany and we were still mesmerized by the beauty of Ooty. This was our fifth visit to Ooty in 6 years! Adarsh International is located very near to the city centre, the main market, YWCA and the bus terminal, on Ettines Road. The hotel is very unassuming and one wouldn't expect much seeing the outer appearance and the manager of Adarsh was a very helpful gentleman and gave me a fantastic tariff for my long stay. We chose room number 305 on the third floor, which happens to be in the deluxe category. The room was quite spacious and had an LCD TV with 60 or so channels. The room lighting was also adequate. They used tube lights, which I personally like better than CFL. The mirror was very clean and big. I must mention the quality of the mattress they provided us. It was the same quality spring mattress we used in our house and was very costly too! The blankets were freshly washed, the linen brand new and the towels were without any stains! We were totally comfortable from the minute we entered our room. They did not give us any shampoo sachets, but soap was provided and the house keeping staff was very professional and one woman in particular, Mrs. Mary, made such a huge effort to make us feel comfortable. The bed sheets were changed every two days and the room was cleaned almost every day, as soon as we left for breakfast. The toilet was cleaned and disinfected every other day. It was really a huge surprise for us! The front office staff were very helpful and always wished us and had a smile on their faces. We particularly liked the bathroom. The tiles were very beautiful and the fittings were top class. Everything worked perfectly. Since we were coming from Germany, we were particularly sissy about cleanliness. There was absolutely nothing to complain about. Very impressed! They have a huge boiler on their roof and they use wood for heating water. They supplied hot water directly to the taps from 8 am still around 11am, even during off-season. I was truly impressed! There is another hotel near Aadarsh. They bring hot water in buckets to the bathroom. It is such a mess in most other hotels in Ooty. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. We slept so peacefully after the back breaking journey from Bangalore to Ooty. There are two or three small restaurants near the hotel. But to tell the fact, it is not suitable for families and their cleanliness is pathetic. It is always better to go to Chairing Cross and dine in a restaurant there. My favourite restaurant is the Table Cafe, right behind Adam's Fountain it has Simply awesome food. We never felt sick after dining there. Now let me talk about the negative points I noticed. Aadarsh doesn't have a lift. So you need to climb so many flights of stairs if you choose a deluxe room like we did! The hotel is located about a kilometre away from the city centre and the market. So be ready to walk till ATC junction to catch a bus to Chairing Cross. Autos are very expensive in Ooty. If you have your own vehicle, then this issue is solved. The hotel has parking available and There is also no restaurant attached to the hotel. But they serve tea and coffee as per order. The cable TV network is very grainy in the whole of Ooty. So that is also one kill-joy. The hotel is right beside the bus route to Coimbatore and Kotagiri and every day, there must be at least 2000 buses and other vehicles passing by. So it can get very noisy during the day. But night time is absolutely wonderful. No noise and horns to disturb you. To conclude, we had an absolutely wonderful holiday in Ooty and our excellent stay in Adarsh was partly responsible for our happiness. I will recommend this hotel to anyone who is on a budget. The facilities they offer are quite good. They also arrange sightseeing trips. Adarsh is one of the cleanest budget hotels in Ooty. They supply hot water even during off season. This is a huge plus for the hotel. I am waiting to go back again!

Clean & tidy room, horrible room service

4.0/7
Posted 31 Oct, 2013

I was on an official visit to Ooty. I had to stay there for a day and the auto driver took me to this hotel. At first the hotel staff was a bit reluctant in giving a room to single person which was a bit strange but they gave me the room finally. Room was clean and tidy, clean washroom, clean bed sheets and a warm blanket. But room service is horrible. No towels and no toiletries were given. The room service staff neither knew English nor Hindi. They arranged for dinner but they get it from a nearby dhaba. Food was tasty but a bit overpriced. Accidentally I walked into that dhaba the very next morning for breakfast and found the rates on their rate card almost half than what I was charged. But on the other hand, the bed was amazingly comfortable and the blanket provided was really warm. They allowed me to extend my check out time by an hour and a half which I really appreciate. Overall it was a decent stay. If you are looking for a decent hotel, this is the place but you need to carry your own toiletries. And if you have options, try eating out rather than ordering the food from the hotel itself.

October was the month when I stayed in this hotel for holiday with family. The destination was excellent specially the botanical garden. The hotel location was good and easily accessible as it was very close to the bus stand. The hotel appearance was nice and maintained. The hotel front office people were every prompt and helpful. I booked the room directly and the room provided was okay but a bit expensive and not as per the price paid somehow I feel. The hotel service was on time and the staff's were helpful. The food was okay in taste although no complimentary meal available. The overall my stay was fine and comfortable.

Mind blowing hotel, satisfactory services

When I travelled Ooty then I stayed in this hotel. Everything was just great in this hotel. Staff was very careful and friendly. They guided us for many sightseeing places and gave us some good tips for the local area. Rooms were well managed, neat and clean. Good bedding, clean pillow and bed sheets were provided. Intercom facility was available. They provided hot water in the early morning hours at around 7 am. Food was good but only South Indian was served. No North Indian food available. I took my food from outside. Complimentary breakfast was not available. Hotel is located about 10 minutes distance from railway station. Location was very nice. Look wise it was beautiful. Booking and front office was very cooperative and very caring. Services were fully satisfactory. Indoor and outdoor activities were not available. Ooty place is excellent for travel. This hotel is fully recommendable for others .

On a holiday trip I traveled to Ooty with my family in the month of May 2017. I directly booked a room at this hotel when we reached the spot. Rooms were good with the cleanliness. The amenities were in good conditions and the ambience was good. It was neatly maintained. It was neat. It was spacious and airy. The room service was good and prompt. The front desk staff was good with the response. They completed the booking process on time. They were informative and the area was clean. They guided us very well and the service boys helped us in carrying the bags till the room. The hotel region was good as it was nearby to the botanical garden boating places tea estates and much more. It was nearby to the bus stand and easily accessible. It was convenient. The look of the hotel was good with the simple looks. Foods were not good. We didn't like it. It was not up to the mark. There were no fun amenities in that hotel. The overall service was good and satisfactory.

Ticket booking request to Bangalore

4.5/7
Posted 1 Jul, 2016

The stay was good, the arrangements for sightseeing was good. We requested the front office to book our 8 tickets by AC. Sleeper bus with Greenland. The front office manager called the Greenline office and confirmed the booking and asked us to pay Rs. 7200/- for 8 seats in AC. Sleeper. I wanted to pay through my debit card for which he refused and insisted for cash payment, I paid cash. I asked for ticket, he said, I can take tickets in evening before we depart at 9pm. And told us to be ready for pick-up at hotel only. We asked for tickets again but we're told not to worry the seats are booked. The bus arrived and we boarded, started journey and noticed that it is not AC. Sleeper what we paid for and nor it is Greenline bus. We complained to the conductor and he told to call his manager. I called his manager and he said Greenline bus was not ready hence the alternate bus arranged and since it is Non-Ac. Bus we will be refunded 800/- by conductor in bus itself and asked me to hand over phone to conductor and they both discussed in Tamil /Kannad (which we don't understand) and conductor nod ed in yes. In morning before getting down at our stop in Bangalore, I asked for refund to conductor, he refused and said he don't have money. I asked then why he said yes to his manager on phone, he said the Manager told him to drop us at Greenline office. We took the booking details to complaint later and we found that the booking was done with some other bus operator and not the Greenline. This all happened due to greed of the front office manager of hotel, he made money . He should be punished to cheat tourist and his customers . Sultan Singh. Noida ( up). Ph. 9312096406

Good hotel - good response"

5.4/7
Posted 7 Sep, 2017

It was a holiday trip. I visited Ooty in the month of May 2017 with my family. I directly booked a room at this hotel through my relative reference. My overall experience at this hotel was average and just OK. The hotel location was good as it was convenient to reach. It was nearby t the tourist places. Car parking was provided but it had a foul smell. It was not maintained properly. The appearance was just average with simple and normal looks. It was just OK. Rooms were not up to the mark. It was just average. It was congested. Few amenities were not proper. It was not properly maintained. Fans were not working. Ventilation was not proper. Hot water facility was available but it was provided only on particular timings. The room service was very good. The front desk was good in completing the booking process. They were on time. But there was some bad foul smell. They were cooperative and responded very well. The overall service was good and satisfactory. Foods were good to taste and the quality was hygienic. We took South Indian food items. It was excellent and delicious. At that hotel there were no fun activities in that hotel. I indicate the hotel management to improve the car parking area room maintenance and to provide hot water facility 24x7.
