Adoor is situated near the town of Kasargod and is popular for the Lord Shiva temple. It is believed that the founder of this temple was Arjuna. According to mythology, Adoor is the region where the battle of Kiratha Yuddham took place between Lord Shiva and Arjuna. The forest situated adjacent to the temple is regarded as the dwelling place of Lord Shiva.
A sanctuary is situated in the Adoor-Kuttikol Panchayath, which is known as the Adoor Wildlife Sanctuary. This reserve forest is home to several species like jungle cat, slender loris, porcupine, wild pig, peacock and more. Beautiful butterflies and many medicinal plants are also found at Adoor.
