Very dirty place

This place has became very dirty place now, there is no maintenance and discipline, people throw whatever in the water and in the surrounding, additional to this the pandits over there keeps doing whatever they want and has became a business on the name of god.

The Moksha Dwar

This is really Moksha Dwar according to our holy books. The less feared Sea bathing you can experience here. People come here to pay tribute to their ancestors and apart from that mundan, Pind daan and many other rituals are performed here. You may go 100 meters ahead into sea still you wont feel scared whether you are a swimmer or not.

Agnitheertham is a religious bath, but enjoyed a lot with Shivling puja

We enjoyed taking bath in Agni Ghat in the early morning and do puja of Shivling made of sand available there. Bath and toilet facility is there but operated by private people with little charge.

Peaceful place

First time a sea at such a peaceful place. Calm and picturesque location. Had a ride on the Steamer and that was memorable. The birthplace of our past president late Kalam Ji, so the place was as calm as him.

Need to bath here before visiting the temple

Rameswaram temple bath begins from here. After bathing from here you have to bath from 22 Wells. Then go to darshan, that's the custom. Steps are slippery, careful.

Good and religious place

Sita-Devi bathed here after agni pareeksha before going inside the temple everyone should bath here. This is part of Bay of Bengal, which is totally silent. So the sea appears as lake with no waves in the morning.

Maintenance and cleanliness to be done

I don't know why we can't keep these places neat and clean. People bath, wash, swim at these places but not take a single step towards maintenance. No proper toilets, changing rooms, dirty roads, stinky sea shores, etc. Govt should take some constructive step towards this and visitors also take some responsibility to make this place clean and beautiful.

Sunrise at its best

The holy culture of Rameshwaram begins with a bath in the agnitheertham and then moving for the temple to worship. In the morning at the sunrise you can witness the sun revealing itself from the ocean floor and rising in front of your eyes.

A dip in this place is a must

Agni theertham is the first theertham out of the 64 theerthams in & around Rameswaram temple. It is the sea and pilgrims take holy bath in this sea. All hindu rituals are observed here. People do tharpanam & observe similar rituals. Without a holy bath in agni theertham the Rameswaram yatra is in vain. People carries holy water from here and take it to home.
