Agumbe is one of the scenic attractions of Shimoga District which is located at a distance of about 90 km from the town. Lying at a height of 826 m, Agumbe is amongst those places in India that receive very heavy rainfall and this has earned it the title ‘Cherrapunji of the South’.
Agumbe is also famous for its sunset view point and Rainforest Research Station. The place is also popular for waterfalls such as Kunchikal Falls, Barkana Falls, Onake Abbi Falls and Jogigundi. The Kunchikal Falls, with a height of 1493 ft, is a major attraction of the region. Agumbe is also an ideal place for adventurous activities like hiking, trekking and rafting.
