About Ahilya Fort
Ahilya Fort resort, named after the Holkar queen, Ahilyabai (1760- 1795), is a Marathwada style Guest house, on the banks of the Narmada river. It is run by the Holkar family and funded by a charitable trust for the conservation of historic Holkar sites. Places to visit include the Omkareshwar temple in the old city of Mandu, Maheshwar’s weaving centers, Narmada river ghats, and Indore city. October to March is the ideal time for visit.
Rooms & Amenities
Ahilya Fort offers 10 deluxe rooms, 2 standard rooms, and 2 luxury tents. All rooms have attached bathrooms with hot water and private balconies overlooking the river. Indian and continental food is served in the ramparts of the fort, or in the garden by the pool. There is no room service. Boating on the Narmada, a massage, and access to email at the front desk is included in the cost of the rooms. The resort features a swimming pool and a travel desk.
