Top Reviews of Hotel Aida
Aida is one of the oldest hotels in Kottayam and one of the most reputed. It stands apart, looks big and classy and has a certain sense of heritage in it, which comes with becoming a landmark in the area. But with this comes some quirks which could be simply attributed to old age - some which could be resolved and others which can't. For one, the moment you enter the hotel, you expect to see the front desk facing you in some way. But here, simply due to design, whether you enter from the main entrance or from the rear thru the parking lot. The front desk is off to a side. This isn't a problem - I'm just saying it's how it is and it's different. The restaurant, Theos, is located in a separate building. So it's convenient for guests who come solely to have a meal, but for people staying in the hotel. They have to come down to the lobby and go to the next building - again, not the most difficult or inconvenient thing in the world, but that's how it is. Once you embrace the quirks that are Aida, you get used to them like everything else. The hotel itself is well-made and decently designed. Every floor has a central patio once you exit the elevator and has corridors with rooms to either side. The floors of the corridors are lightly carpeted. The doors don't have electronic locks so thats some vintage right there. However, the rooms are adequately comfortable and decked out and space is perfect. The bed and sleep quality is very good - no box springs, but excellent nonetheless. The furniture in use is not the most modern, but it isnt victorian or ancient either. No cracks, tears, rips, stains, or creepy crawlies. The view we got was of the front entrance and the road, which was - meh. I guess no room really has a view to die for here. The TV and sat connection work. However, it is an older small CRT unit - more vintage stuff. My big gripe with the room I had was that there was a lot of noise in my room. Not because of the room facing the road, NO and neither due to any neighbours. No the culprit here was the AC. The ridiculously cranky loud AC. So, I switched it off after a bit to get some peace and quiet, which is when I realised that it had a partner in crime - the mini refrigerator. Switched that off as well and decided to use the fan and lo - we have a noisy fan. Vintage- Taken a bit too far I think. Now I was there just for a few hours of the night and was there to attend a wedding so I had no time or energy to spend complaining about this, but if someone responsible is reading, please set these things right in room 203 guys. I decided to switch everything back on in the end and turn up the TV until we fell asleep and it worked for me, maybe because I was that tired. The bath is basic and has all the essentials. The wife especially enjoyed the mirror and the cushioned stool placed in front of it, while dressing up the next day. She also had experienced the room service over a couple of dishes for dinner, which have been reported as tasty and satisfying - so much so that she slept into a trance and almost locked me out by the time I came back after some errands. Our breakfast experience at Theos the next morning was very satisfying as well. The spread was decent, no continental stuff, but still fresh and tasty and balanced out. The restaurant looks and feels well- laid out, clean and welcoming. And, for the price of just under 1. 5k a night, we think this place is an absolute hoot, probably the best that Kottayam can offer. But then that isnt something new is it. Aida is after all a veteran in the game. Just maybe needs a few new tricks up it's sleeve to bring it up to speed with the times. Would definitely recommend and visit again.
My purpose of stay in the hotel was to attend the state conference of Income Tax Employees Federation, Kerala Circle. All the amenities provided were excellent and I still nourish the golden moments I spent there. The pool was really spacious and very hygienic. The sleeping mattress was smooth and I slept a sound sleep. The television was high dimensional and was user friendly. The whole staff was very courteous and all of them made quick responses for our requirements. The house keeping services were quite upto the mark. The location of the restaurant is very suitable and helpful for the visitors. The restaurant in the vicinity is cheap and comparatively best. The whole area was actually very melancholic and there was no disturbing sound or pandemonium. In short, the span of my stay there will remain in the realm of my memory for ever.
I visited here official work for company Hotel is very good and first class bed, furnitures and also good arrangement of instant coffee and tea. Bathroom facility are very nice. Hotel management staff have good communication skills. If any new visitors coming they not suffer in this hotel. My advice to all visiting Kerala, stay in this hotel as it is safe and good. In this hotel arranged all shower items no need to bring. I suggest to hotel to arrange new LCD TV not the old TV as these have official look appeal.
It was pleasure staying in Aida, Kottayam. The location was excellent, very accessible to all parts of the city, very convenient to go around the city. Here one can taste the authentic taste of Kerala, especially if you are non vegetarian. I love the non vegetarian dishes and the morning buffet breakfast. The service was good and the hotel has very polite and courteous staff ready to help you 24x7. A Value for money, very pleasant stay. I have only one concern about this hotel on the renovation part. I have been staying here for the past 5 years, I feel a minor face lift has to be given to the hotel which will help the customers to have a luxury feeling and a comfortable stay. A minor touch up to this hotel can give their customers a 5 star feeling which is very affordable. Anyone who visits this hotel will definitely refer other people to this hotel. Overall this is like a dream come true for any one travelling to Kottayam. One can realize why people call Kerala as God's own country, only after a stay in AIDA, this statement feels true.
I have been going to Aida since my childhood. Their fried rice and chilli chicken are my all time favorites. And of course with sweet corn chicken soup. I always wanted to stay in Hotel Aida and finally made it happen recently. Went to stay for the weekend. My little girl was super excited about this as there is a park nearby. We asked for early check-in at 10 am instead of 12 pm and they were so happy to do that over the phone but when we arrived we were told to wait for 20 mins. The reception guy was not that friendly. We didn't had breakfast so the room was ready post breakfast. The rooms were clean and fresh. Room service were excellent and prompt. Ordered dinner and was served piping hot within minutes. They have complimentary breakfast buffet. Buffet had pretty good spread but not that great. Lunch buffet is super awesome with a great line up of food varieties. This is one of the oldest hotels in Kottayam so rooms are pretty old but was neat. We got the road facing room on the second floor. It was a great view. They had a coffee maker and a small office table. Wardrobe was great and clean. Wi-fi is available, need to call the reception for the pass code and yes it is complimentary. I thank Hotel Aida for making our weekend a fabulous one. Cheers to that and we will be coming back often for the weekend stays.
