About Ajit Bhawan
This heritage hotel is located two kilometres from the centre of Jodhpur, the second city in Rajasthan, close to the edge of the Thar Desert. The Ajit Bhawan Palace was built in the 1940’s for the Maharaja Sir Ajit Singh and his family still occupies a portion of the red sandstone palace with its arched windows, carved balconies and cupolas. The resort offers rides in its vintage cars, village safaries and cultural performances. There is a street of antique shops leading from the resort. It is also a short drive to Jodhpur’s Meherangarh Fort. The best season to visit is between October and February.
Rooms & Amenities
There are sixty rooms; some within the palace itself, some in Rajasthani style cottages and tents. A few have private balconies overlooking the garden. All rooms have air-conditioning, mini bars, a TV and a telephone. The restaurant serves Indian and Continental and overlooks the swimming pool in the centre of the resort. There is an Internet café, massage parlour, health club, and pool café. All major credit cards are accepted.
