Alappuzha (Alleppey) food, sight-seeing and shopping options
All meals (Lunch,evening snacks,dinner,brkfst) are served on the houseboat. Make sure u tell your preference (veg/Non Veg/White Rice)atleast 24hrs in advance. If you want to add soup/salad to your meal then you can buy these from shops and give it to your chef. plan & buy these from your city as i didnt find any shops nearby the boat jetty. The food was served ontime and we found the quantity to be adequate. I would not rate the quality to be of great standards but I would it was manageable. If you are travelling around summer, then make suer you buy cool drinks and stock them in the kitchen (they have ice boxes). There was a sumptuous big fruit platter which served us till the last lap of our cruise. If you are a sea food lover, you would enjoy the fresh catch from the backwaters as they go directly from the waters to the kitchen for frying !

Comments: Keraleeyam is by far the best place to experience Kerala backwaters. A home away from home, I would say it is the best place one can stay in at Alleppey.
Best Experience: The food cooked on order at Keraleeyam by the 'oh-so-sweet' chef will be in my memory for a long time. The coconuts plucked fresh from a nearby tree on order too was a good service the staff provided. All in all, one has to be there to feel the warmth the place exudes.
Worst Experience: None really!

Keraleeyam serves the best fish curries in the country. While it is famous as a healthy ayurvedic spa, we ended up putting on more weight just gorging the yummy food. The setting is very peaceful, on the banks of the waterway. Infact, it is at the main junction of the waterway between Allepey and Kumarakom, so be ready to see boat house jams in front of your balcony....

Resort has a beautiful lake facing facade. It is housed in an old Kerala house (except the cottages). The resort is minimalist without being uncomfortable. Mostly people come here for treatment rather than leisure....

Keraleeyam is definitely a place to visit at least once. The best part of the resort is the friendly staff. Food, surrounding environment, leisure activities are the second best part of the resort. You can experience life's simple pleasures like fishing, taking a canoe ride on the calm backwaters, simply soaking in the sun while lying on a hammock reading a book...its just amazing. It was absoultely terrific. The resort promotes ethnic Ayurvedic health spa set near the scenic Vembanad Lake, close to Alleppey. The A/c. twin double bedroom houseboats they run are the best in the backwaters of Kerala. The service was excellent and the cusine was mouthwatering....
