Allahabad food, sight-seeing and shopping options
There are lot of dining options in Allahabad. It depends on what one wants to have. Most of the upmarket restaurants are in the Civil Lines area serving wide range of cuisine from north indian to south indian to pizza and pasta. However if one wants to savor some local flavors head to the Chowk area. The lane called 'Loknath' is highly recommended for its local chaat, and samosas. People with big sweet tooth like mine have a treat in store. Big glasses of badam milk and lassis are served. You can also order the Thaali.

Hotel Review of Kanha Shyam Hotel
Comments: I always stay at this hotel when in Allahabad (if it is not full). The hotel has improved by replacing old carpets with hardwood floors. They smell clean now. Great location!
Best Experience: Courteous staff accommodated early arrival and late departure. Food is good.
Worst Experience: Hot water system did not seem to be working. Fortunately, I did not need it due to hot summer weather.

I was in Allahabad for the Ardh Kumbh, in January this year. Kanha Shyam is the best hotel in the city, in terms of cleanliness, accessibility, management, food and ambience. The staff was also very helpful and competent....
