We chose Amanvana Spa Resorts for our first wedding anniversary & we couldn't make a better choice than this! Located right on the Mangalore-Mysore road, but completely away from from the hustle-bustle of the city life. Amanvana is a premium luxury resort in Coorg, compared to the likes of very expensive Orange County, Tamara & Vivanta by Taj. Located on the banks of river Kaveri, from the moment you wake up to when you head to sleep, time at Amanvana is measured by the quiet magic of the revered River Kaveri. Among resorts in Coorg, Amanvana has the most intimate view of the river. The mesmerizing location of Amanvana makes it the perfect place to enjoy the picturesque beauty of Coorg. We were treated with Bungalow no 107. The aesthetically pleasing bungalows at Amanvana have been designed with meticulous attention to delightful details and a perfect sense of harmony. Each bungalow comes with a private lawn, a lotus pond and a reading nook. There's also a special moon light in the ceiling to bring an air of enchantment to storytelling nights. In the morning, it's always wonderful to be woken up by over 18 varieties of bird song that replace your alarm clock. The bathrooms at Amanvana are the USP. Clad with stone to enhance the naturalistic design of the bungalows, the bathrooms also feature luxury tubs, soothing white brick walls, and sky lit ceilings that make you feel one with nature even in the most private of spaces. One of the highlights that make Amanvana the most popular resort in Coorg is the fascinating trek to the Eight Islands. You will be accompanied by a resort guide along lush green forests, rare bird sanctuaries and beautiful streams which are the major attractions of your journey. Special mention of extremely knowledgeable Saraswati (Activity manager) & tremendously helpful Anoop who were our guides for the Nature walk, Eight Island trek & Coffee plantation visit! All must-do activities at Amanvan! Amanvana is a spa and resort destination, where you can enjoy a truly comprehensive list of spa therapies. As you descend the staircase that leads to our blissful spa, you enter a enchanting and relaxing world: imagine charmingly plush interiors, frog whispers from the lotus pond and the smiling faces of our caring staff. We tried the amazingly relaxing Ayurvedic massage & Signature wine facial, which felt like the cherry on the topic at our Amanvana trip. Special mention again for the staff & Vipith! Dining at Amanvana is the only concern with very limited options at the Rainbow Room restaurant. We did try our hand at Coorgi dishes which were very delicious & filling. Special arrangements were made at the Coffee hut for our anniversary, which was a very kind gesture from the resort staff. The breakfast buffet is widespread with both Indian & Continental dishes. Overall, an very relaxing & amazing beautiful experience at the Amanvana Spa Resort! A must try if you are in Coorg.
I had been looking for a resort for my family to spend good time together. I had planned the visit from Mangalore to Madekeri / Coorg / Kushalnagar. I was very particular about the resort and it was an effort of 3 months to finalize Amanvana. I zeroed in on Amanvana due to its monsoon package, amenities and overall good feedback online. There were some negative feedback on few website which were motivating me to give second thought on my choice of resort. My visit to Amanvana changed all my perception, believe me they are very serious about your comments or complaint on website, as nothing proved to be right on negative side mentioned on any website. They gave their best during our visit. True to its name Amanvana is truly a peaceful, well-planned, clean and Alice in Wonderland resort. You have lot to do in resort if you truly love nature or want to spend some really good time with your family. Staff is excellent, really no words, everyone is helpful and will arrange any thing on your request. As I had opted for the package we enjoyed unlimited food, served with sheer love. Restaurant staff was very helpful, served with smile to never ending demand of my family. The catch of the resort, its rooms with unique bathrooms. I have visited N-number of hotels / resorts but, never came across such splendid bathrooms, really wonderful. Experience it to enjoy it. Overall the rooms were very nice, very clean and really big. I liked the idea of placing books in every corner of the room even in bathroom. I liked the paintings which were placed in the room. They have given lot of thought while designing the resort. The only disappointment I had was with 7 Island Tour which got cancelled due to heavy rains and high flow of water in River Kaveri. It was cancelled for our own safety, so I will not blame anyone I think it was our own bad luck. My advice to travellers would be to opt for package and negotiate, if you are lucky and its off-season then you may land-up with a good deal. Restaurant is expensive so opt for packages and enjoy your unlimited food. Amanvana is located in Kushalnagar but, again it hardly matters as their is nothing much to watch in Coorg or Madekeri or Kushalnagar. If you are planning a visit to Coorg / Madekeri then resort will play a very important role as outside there is hardly anything to do. Resort will guide you with all the tour details, places to look for nearby. I would recommend Amanvana to travellers any time and please ignore all the negative feedback. I would suggest resort to update the website with better images of their resort. They have lot of scenic view in resort and they have hardly updated good images of resort. Images play important role in making decision if we are booking online.
We planned for this trip on the event of our wedding anniversary and reserved in advance. Closer to the date, we had to reach out to the front desk for travel options from Mysore and Anju at the front desk was extremely accommodative. We arrived on time and were shown the room within 5 mins - no waiting time, no need for cleaning time, etc. This was the first example of efficiency at this resort (there are more to come!! The rooms are spacious and well furnished. There is a sitting room with a large LCD TV and a DTH connection. They have provided a succumbed convertible option, which is helpful. Complimentary fruit basket and mini bar are well stocked. The Bath is quite extravagant with a Bathtub and an open to air bathing area. They provide a locker and a large closet, useful for stays longer than 2 days. The front desk executives are extremely helpful and take pleasure / time to explain about the facilities and activities available on site, on your arrival. They even have a bird watching competition and award a "Bird watcher" certificate at the end of your stay, if you happen to identify and mark down birds from a list they provide. My son identified some birds from the list and was given the certificate promptly, which was 1. Informative on bird species for a child, 2. Brought him away from the tab / ipad / phone culture, and 3. Sense of pride at identifying and getting rewarded. Special mention should be made here about Anju and Hemanth, who were attending the front desk during our arrival Continuing on the facilities, there is a poolside restaurant operating from 6 AM - 11 PM - as part of the package we availed complimentary breakfast. The spread is quite varied with south Indian, north Indian, and Continental options. They also have 1 option on the live counter at breakfast and dinner. During our stay, the options were Akki roti (Coorgi cuisine) and Masala dosa / poori. There are 2 swimming pools, one smaller for kids between 1-6 years (1-2 feet) and a larger one for adults, 4-5 feet in depth. The pool is well maintained with a waterfall-like projection at one end, which when switched on is useful for a drencher. They also have a jacuzzi near the pool, again well maintained One of the biggest advantages of this resort is the spa. Anil, who manages the spa is very experienced and has on-hand some of the most experienced masseuse for a wonderful experience. Again, the variety across the massages is extremely good - they have relaxation, anti-stress, exfoliating, facials, and full body massages. There is also a discount on massages beyond certain value. This was the first time that we experienced a massage and we were not disappointed - very effective and pleasurable experience. Kudos to Anil's team! Moving on to activities, there are 4 main ones that you can enjoy, 1. 8-Island trek: the resort is situated on the banks of the Cauvery as it flows down, so you can walk through the relaxing waters of the Cauvery. This is a daily event that happens between 11:30 am - 1:00 pm. 2. Nature walk: one of the executives take you through the 300-odd varieties of flora available in the center, this is quite informative. 3. Coffee plantation visit: Coorg is famous for its coffee plantation and Amanvana is no exception (we didn't do this activity as we had done this earlier in other places). 4. Movie of the day: Depending on the weather, the Amanvana team airs a Hindi or English movie in the evening at the open to air theater or the activity center There is a activity center where children can play chess, carrom, table tennis, foosball, archery, and badminton - they also have activity hour exclusively for children between 10:30 am - 12:30 pm and again in the afternoon, where they have someone teach arts and crafts for children To talk about the food, there is a lot of variety and authenticity in the preparation of dishes from different cuisines. The restaurant Manager and staff are very polite and helpful. The restaurant houses about 10 tables, but even if you prefer sitting in the garden outside or the cottage diner, the waiting staff's efficiency is never in question - always checking on us, on the quality of the food, and focusing on the customer experience. Overall, though we only spent 2 nights here, the service experience and importance for customer is highly appreciable at Amanvana. To top it off, Amanvana, surprised us with a wedding anniversary cake, that was most unexpected. Some people might think this place is pricey, but let me tell you, for the kind of customer service they provide, it is worth every paisa. I would like to close off with another round of appreciation for all Amanvana staff!! GREAT WORK, TEAM, KEEP ROCKING!!
Excellent!! I would like to thank hotel people and Make My Trip for organising a wonderful and a well planned trip for me and my wife. The overall experience of the trip was great. To start with the flight timings that they picked out were perfect. So with perfect timing to start nothing in our trip went out of schedule. We were greeted at the airport by a very friendly driver. Very helping and was well versed with the place which was a complete plus point. The drive was very comfortable. The hotel "Amanvana Spa and Resort" was in a true sense rabbit hole for our soul. Peace and serenity surrounded us as soon as we entered the place. The staff was courteous. On arrival we were explained about their in house activities. Then we were directed to our room. The cottage was amazing. Very chic and simple. The bathroom was lavish. With a nice huge bath tub which had a glass roof to gaze at the stars while one takes a soothing bath at night. After some rest we set out to explore the resort. The resort is situated on the banks of river Kaveri and is well planned. They have small corners with tables and chairs amidst the greenery and facing the river. Oh! What a place to just sit and plunge into a novel! The food in the hotel is good however the variety is limited and if one is staying for 5 days the menu becomes boring and monotonous. For example, we had the same breakfast every alternate day which kind of drained the fun out of that lavish spread. The swimming pool is very shallow almost like a giant bathtub. The resort organises a nature trail, eight island trek, coffee plantation tour. Due to rains, the eight island trek was cancelled by the authorities. However the nature trail and coffee plantation tour was amazing. The guide Saraswati was very knowledgeable in that aspect and explained everything in great details. Was fascinating to get to know so many things about nature. What impressed me the most was that, the resort grows some of the local veggies which they use in the kitchen. So all organic and natural. The itinerary planned for the period of our vacation was perfect which gave us half a day of exploring Coorg and half day to relax and enjoy the comfort of the cottage. The must do things in the list are the elephant camp, river rafting, the abbey falls and the Tibetan monastery. The other places were scenic and beautiful. This was a great experience for us and we thank Make My Trip for making it our perfect getaway.
We were welcomed by the front desk with a good smile and offered good chocolate milk. The management and staff personally took care of our stay and made our stay very comfortable, enjoyable and a memorable one. We have recommended to our relatives. Food was tasty with wide varieties. We had taken two independent bungalows which were neat and well-designed to have more space and feel homely. It was cleaned daily and the staff were courteous and helpful. They also guided us for traveling to nearby places. My daughters experienced their water adventure tour of small islands within their resort and enjoyed very much. We all liked their coffee plantation tour and the guide educated us nicely and with passion. We stayed for 3 days and felt we could have stayed a little bit longer.
