Amara Homestay Reviews
It was very nice in living midst of the nature. It was also nice to see the destination and had a good sight seeing. In my opinion ideal to visit Dandeli is during October to December. But in my experience it was overall a good experience staying in Amara homestay.
Very good hotel and service. Best location in Dandeli if you want to stay in a core area of Dandeli forest. Food is also very good, every meal they have various kind of recipes. Must visit once.
It was a pleasant experience staying in Amara Homestay, away from the concrete jungle, but surrounded by picturesque scenery with excellent hospitality especially by Mr. And Mrs. Hegde along with their son and daughter-in- law. It was a reunion of doctors after 15 long years. It was an adventurous outing for whole group. The only drawback is no net....Read More
We recently concluded a brilliant family outing at Dandeli Forest Reserves and our stay at Amara Homestay has been icing on the cake. Mr. Ramachandra Hedge and family has been managing this site. We tried a room option and a tent option (specially for kids). The place is clean and maintained nicely. The kids were able to enjoy lush green lawns and....Read More

We were looking forward to a relaxing holiday. We chose the location as Dandeli. Our google search lead us to Amara homestay. The homestay is situated a bit away from Dandeli but the location is very peaceful. The homestay will make you understand what hospitality means in reality. Its not a luxury resort so please don't expect amenities. But, the....Read More

Every year we are waiting for when diwali holidays will come and when we go to Dandeli. It is really Superb experience of staying in Amara Home stay. Main attraction of this resort is excellent food and really very good service given by Mr. And Mrs. Hegde. Staying in Tent is very memorable expereience. Tents are very clean and big. We don't even feel that we are staying in resort. Its like a family. Mr. Hegde and their relatives treat us like a family member. They are always ready to give us on time service. Since 6 -7 years we are visiting Amara Homestay but every time we are enjoying more and more. Always we feel that we should extend our stay. After returning from Amara we miss it very much, especially variety of food. Every time they show us different spots of Dandeli. Nature is really beautiful there. We love you Amara.
The kids were able to enjoy lush green lawns and play without any hindrance. The best thing about this place is lipsticking veg food. Though we are predominantly non-veg family, we thoroughly enjoyed veg food for 2 days including kids. Absolutely no complaint about not having non-veg options. Most importantly, not a single item was repeated during 3 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 2 dinners. He also provided us with guide who took us around to visit jungle safari, Temple and water sports. The most touching thing is every thing is personally looked after by the entire family which brings in warmth and attention in guest experience. I highly recommend this place if you are planning to visit Dandeli in near future!
We were a group of 9 people including 2 kids. We visited Dandeli in first week of May 2015. We had booked Amara Homestay almost a month ago. The owner of this place Mr. Hegde is a gem of a person and he ensures to help you in every possible way. After we did our bookings, Mr. Hegde called us to inform that white water rafting was not operational in the month of May and he was ready to pay our money back. He also arranged a vehicle for us for pick-up from Londa junction and for sightseeing. Coming back to the place, the rooms are good and clean. They also have tent accommodations which can easily fit 4-5 people. The surroundings are kept clean. There is a separate room where everyone gathers for food. They have a huge spice farm behind the house where you can see different plantations of spices. Once you arrive you are greeted with a special drink. Lunch and dinner is so excellent that you must visit to experience it. I have never enjoyed veg food so much in my life. There are variety of veggies in your plate with different types of chutneys, pickles, jackfruit papad and sweet. It is a simple food with a very unique taste. All credit to Mrs. Hegde. She also shared her recipes with us. All the staff here is very helpful. They will ask you in the afternoon what kind of food you prefer for dinner. They suggest you different places where you can visit. They arranged a bonfire for us on request. The next time, I visit this place I will go for a tent. They have placed their tents under the roof. One does not have to worry about sun or rain.
We were a group of friends with a plan of trekking in the Dandeli Anashi Forest Area. Heard about Amara Homestay from a friend who was very happy with his stay here earlier. We called and reserved the tent accommodation. When we reached Amara, it was around 11 in the morning after Safari in Dandeli Tiger Reserve forest. We were greeted with a welcome drink by the owner and his family. The lunch was awesome with around 20+ vegetarian delicacies prepared and served by family members. The tent accommodation was excellent. The beds in the tent were very clean and tidy. Amidst of Dandeli Tiger Reserve forest, stay in Amara was a memorable experience. We went for bird watching in the evening and also in the morning and were able to identify at least 20-25 species within 100 meters radius which included Great Hornbil. The staff arranged for a camp fire in the evening. They also help in arranging rafting, trekking and bird watching. It is quite nearer from here to visit, Syntheri rocks, many caves and also Ulavi Channabasaveshwara Temple. Overall, it was a superb experience.
Stay: My family and I went with my friends and their family on October 16th, 17th and 18th October 2013 Over there. It is situated in Gunda village, 35 km inside the core area of Dandeli ansi tiger reserve. The main moto of our stay was Bird watching with visit to Dudhsagar Falls and going wild with Dandeli and Ansi National Park. As our train was late by more than 10 hours we crossed the jungle at night and witness the adventure beauty of Ansi and Dandeli National Park. It was so thrilling can't express with words. The plantation surrounding the home stay was really interesting, such simple things like seeing pepper growing gave us a lot of interest and pleasure. The tent was more than comfortable and the facilities also excellent. This place has been established with love and care and it shows. The stay was so wonderful that it fulfilled all of our wishes and then more than we imagined. The hospitality and courtesy with which we were entertained was outstanding. Food: Their food and hospitality is at top of the world. It's just great to see people in these days giving you such a comfortable stay. The variation of food in our entire three day stay was awesome. We the Bangali people normally consume low south Indian found due to use of Coconut oil. But Amara home stay changed our conception and we loved each and every sumptuous variety of south Indian dishes which they prepare specially for us. Their hospitality can be compared among any five star or best known hospitality in the world. Really Mr. and Mrs Hegdes hospitality is priceless. You can't buy it with price or money. It is our fortune that we have a privilege to have met Mr and Mrs Hegde and members of their family. Please try her food before you read my reviews and it is not only the food; the love with which it is served makes the impact exponential. Multiple options and all of them, repeat- all of them served without any limits. The flavors get enhanced by the home made ingredients whether it is spices or honey or papads. And the ghee that gets poured on those hot idlies. It is a different world. Food gets served in a round mess and it is a pleasure to be there partaking food. I love their Konkony style dry Chicken. Activities: We went to Bird watching next to the jungle specially spotted Malabar Hornbill. Also We went to Synteri rocks and had a sunset boat ride on an artificial lake formed by a dam on the Kali River, deserted but for birds and snakes. We visited the Ulavi Temple one evening and this was a highlight for all of us, especially to be taken there with Mr. Hegde as our guide. A walk into their 100 year old estate, fresh ground water, sustainable living were other things to be appreciated apart from seeking thrills in the nearby jungle. The Timberland near Dandeli also paradise for Malabar grey Hornbill. But not very impressed with the arrangement of Jungla safari at Dandeli National park by forest department. The great Malabar giant squirrel also seen there . Advice: Please note this place may not appeal to those who prefer luxury, TV, WiFi or air conditioning, swimming pool, fridge, coffee maker or similar exotic stuff. And not to go for jeep safari at Dandeli national park. It is worthless.
