Another beautiful temple is the Ambalapuzha Sree Krishna Temple. It is built in a typical Kerala style and is dedicated to Sree Krishna. It was built between the fifteenth and the seventeenth A.D by a Chempakasherri ruler called Sri Devanarayan. The milk porridge called Palpayasam" severed to the devotees is very famous. """

"Sree Krishna Temple famous for the Pal Payasam"

  • 7.0/7
  • Posted Oct 12, 2016
The Ambalappuzha Sree Krishna Swamy temple is 14 km from Alleppey town. Bus and taxi service is easily available to go there. The temple is built in Kerala architectural style and Sree Krishna idol is worshiped in this large temple. The Pal Payasam (Rice porridge) is the main offering and the taste is awesome. Prior booking is needed for the Palpayasam. The temple has some sub deities in the premises. At the entrance an instrument called 'Mizhavu' is displayed and it was used by the famous artist called 'Kunjan Nambiar'. The temple management has an elephant which is used for the poojas. Mannarasala Sree Nagaraja temple at Haripad is another famous temple at a distance of 19 km and Snake God - Nagaraja is worshipped here by devotees.

"Amazing temple"

  • 7.0/7
  • Posted Dec 24, 2015
I had been to this place during my 2 day stay at Alleppey. One of the most beautiful temple I have seen. There are lot of things to shop and there is a bull inside that temple which is humongous, just awesome to stare at that creature.

Go there before 12. 00 noon as the temple closes by 12. 00 noon, also you would have to remove your shirt and shoes in case you want to enter the main temple premises. Enjoy your visit.

"Absolutely Blissful"

  • 7.0/7
  • Posted Dec 22, 2015
With the grace of Almighty I went to this one of the most Blissful temples in India on 16th December 2015, I have been to most pilgrimage places in India like Holy Amarnath Caves, All the 12 Jyotirlingas, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, Shri Sabarimala to name a few. The positive vibrations engulfs us once we enter the temple, when we sit in silence after praying to Lord Krishna and other Deities, we will be absolutely peaceful and feeling relaxed. The temple is huge and humongous with a lovely tank, be careful with the children as the tank steps are slightly slippery, we can take some wonderful photos around the temple to cherish for our entire lifetime.

"Serenity and calmness"

  • 4.0/7
  • Posted Oct 23, 2015
One of the most important and pristine shrines to visit in Kerala. It is believed that the temple was built on the sighting of Lord Krishna on the very location itself, therefore it adds to the divine aura of the visit. Spacious and clean the temple always has always a colourful look during festival periods.

Away from the main city with convenient transit options, do not miss the morning pooja. Recommend that one spend some time till they serve their famous payasam.

"Famous Krishna Temple."

  • 5.5/7
  • Posted Sep 20, 2013
About 15 Km from Alleppey. Bus service is available.
Very divine atmosphere. No forceful extraction of money. Only one line for everyone to enter.
Temple pond is big & nice looking. Lord Krishna is the main deity.
There are other Sannidhanams inside the temple.
Palpayasam is famous here & issued by noon time, so if you plan your visit by 10.30 am, you can see the temple & taste the Prasadham.
