"Clutter and indisciplined crowd" new review

  • 4.0/7
  • Posted 3 days ago
The market is ideal for shopping of almost every household item. For chat lovers, an ideal place as a lot of varieties are available at very reasonable rates. Some shops like MataBadal Pansari are here for generations. What drives you away is unruly traffic and road occupying vendors.

"Marketing, eating and bargaining hub of the Lucknow"

  • 5.0/7
  • Posted 2 months ago
Oldest market of Lucknow since the era of Nawab of Awadh. In fact it is the heartthrob of Lucknowites. There is an esplanade type place in the center from where radiates many narrow lanes and by lanes with crossings and intersections. It is the cheapest A-Z market of Lucknow, for those who enjoy rubbing their shoulders and pushing during the walk and expert in bargaining. Reward is cheaper clothes and things of daily uses, mouth watering chats and Kulfi with faluda. Chikan embroidered clothes and kurtas are very popular item of this market. On one road you'll find many eatables, mainly non-veg dishes like different types of Kababs, including famous Tunday kabab, Chiken Biryani and tikka, parathas and many more. At one corner there a famous Chaat shop where you can enjoy Tikka mutter and Golgappe and Tamatar chaat. Overall it's a very crowded marked buzzing with shops, vendors and peoples enjoying bargaining and for those who likes mouth watering chats and kebabs. Down point is poor sanitation of lack of sufficient washrooms, especially for ladies and handicapped.

"One of the old Markets of Lucknow"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted 2 months ago
Aminabad is the heart of Lucknow. It's a old and traditional market with small and crowded lanes. The Thursday market is what one should look for when in Lucknow. The best and cheap traditional Lucknowi dress and accessories. Ideal time to visit is after 4 when one can shop things like Chikankari dress and mojaris. Also many options for men's Lucknowi kurta which can be bought at cheap price if you have good bargaining skills.

"Overcrowded place"

Place is too overcrowded. Apparels are expensive especially for tourist, you need to be with a local guy to get good clothes. You won't miss anything even if you don't visit this place.

"Filled with eateries, shops and crowds"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted Aug 10, 2015
Anything to everything you can get here. Reached here by a share auto ride costing Rs. 7 from the junction. An overcrowded street buzzing with vendors and buyers. Be cautious - chances are high that you will get run over a cycle rickshaw! Yes it still runs here ( & there).

Safety pins to jewelleries, Paani puris to parathas, plain waters to prakash kulfis, etc & etc, you get. Be careful - don't wear anything attractive - will be picked for free without you knowing. If you are on a gastronomical exploration, this is the place to challenge you & please you at the same time.

You can have chaats in Pandit chaats especially Gol guppas, Mutton/Beef kebabs with phulkas in Tunday kababs, Mutton chops in Wahid biryani along with special parathas, Finally savoured with Kulfi falooda in Prakash kulfis.

Chikan work materials are very cheap & famous here - only thing Negotiate ( or BARgain). It is a girls attraction boasting many dress materials, ornamental handbags and other nitty gritties. Main thing the markets are closed on Thursdays - but you will be welcomed by street vendors all along the market road. Go by walk. Overall you will for sure remember your visit here.
