Situated on MG Road in the western part of Port Blair, the Anthropological Museum is one of the most visited places in town. It is maintained by the Anthropological Survey of India. The museum illustrates the tribal life and culture. It has an exhibition of the tools and weapons that are used by the tribes as well as photographs showing the different tribes, existing and extinct.
There are also items and collections showing the history of the island archipelago, a library with books of different types and by various authors who have written widely on the Union Territory.
Sometimes, the museum also organises documentaries and short films showing the life of the tribes and the different social customs and cultures of the Union Territory.
Time: 9:00 am to 12 noon, and
1:00 pm to 4:00 pm (except Monday)
