Arakkal Kettu is believed to have served as the royal residence of the Arakkal family. This family was considered as the only Royal Muslim family which had control over Lakshadweep and the nearby coastal areas.
This historical site is also popular as the Arakkal Palace, built around 200 years ago. The Archaeological Department has declared this site as a protected monument. This palace houses a residential building, administrative block and mosques.
There is a Bell Tower with a huge bronze bell. The palace also has a museum that has various artefacts like telephones, shehnai, fans, royal furniture and various utensils of brass, glass and silver.
