Located in the town of Nagapattinam, the Arumugamswamy temple is located in the village by the name of Porulvaithacheri, which is about 6 km to the south. The temple is dedicated to Subramanium Swamy, whose idol is also present along with a peacock. As per the legend, the king of the region was so impressed by the sculptor’s work, that he gave money to the sculptor as his prize, but cut off his thumb so that he could not sculpt another master piece like this.
