Very good food

Posted 1 Jan, 2015

The best part of the hotel is that food. Beautiful view was visible from the hotel. Staff behaviour was good and they gave on time services. I liked the behaviour of room service staff there. I had no problem during check-in and check-out facility. Room was comfortable but from room roof the water pours off. Nice view was visible from the room balcony. I stayed there two days and two nights. Housekeeping was good there. TV and other necessity items were available there and functioning properly. Washroom was also tidy. Hills were available in the surrounding of the hotel. Location of the hotel was nice and it was located on top but it was situated bit far from the market. My overall, experience in the hotel was nice. Swimming pool, playground, table tennis, volleyball and other activities were available there and I used swimming there. Look of the hotel was fine. Sightseeing trip was managed by our own. They provided veg food only and it was very nice. Price wise, the food was fine. I did booked my room on the spot. Overall, my destination in Matheran was valuable. I can recommend this hotel to other travellers. I want to give one suggestion to the staff of the hotel is that that peoples who want to indulge themselves in activities like drinking and such they should provide them separate area or room for such purposes. I visited there with my family in the month of August.

Friendly staff with good rooms but no non-veg food

Posted 5 Aug, 2015

My experience at this hotel was good and there was no problem in travelling here. The hotel is convenient to locate and cab facility was provided by the hotel. It was a family vacation and our stay was comfortable. The staff members at this hotel were helpful and friendly in behaviour. The appearance of the hotel is good and interiors are quite good. But there was no non-veg food available at this hotel which was disappointing. The room allotted to us was spacious and cleanly maintained with all the basic amenities in good condition. There was no delay in check-in or check-out procedure. I did not see any kind of activities or games conducted at this hotel. According to the accommodation the hotel was good and worthy for the money spent.

Excellent Food, Peaceful Location and Superb Room Services

Posted 19 Nov, 2013

We went to Matheran on the New year day i.e. 4th November 2013 for a stay of 4 Days and 3 nights advanced booked package as it was Diwali break time. We had booked through an agent in Mumbai. When we arrived at Matheran Railway Station in the Toy Train, we exactly didn't know the place where the Hotel was located so hired the Man-hand pulled Rickshaw for Rs. 200/- per person. When we started in the morning around 10 we found that the Hotel is quite far and as We had my Father in Law who is a senior citizen and my Aunt who is a patient of Asthma, together with us. We felt it would be difficult for them to move around in the place. But finally when we arrived at the Hotel Ashok, we found it really in a Nice Location. We had to get down the stairs to reach there. It is on the way when you to to the Sunset point. The hotel was in a real serene destination. In the lap of Mother Nature. The Swimming pool, the open dinning area, the beds under the trees for sitting and relaxing along with the Swings and sea-saw and slides and the play area for the kids. The Table tennis, carom and Badminton Area as well as all the instruments for playing there were available and in fact many were playing when we reached there. The Front office staff was very co-operative on our arrival they gave us a warm welcome and asked us to wait for sometime as the cleaning was going on and also asked us to go for the morning breakfast. The Best part of the Hotel was the Food. Morning Breakfast we had Bateta-Poha, Upma, Bread, butter, jam, gathiya, jalebi, idli, vada, uttapam, sambhar, tomato and onion chilla and many more varity during the 3 days stay. Talking about the Lunch full Dish had receipes like Roti/Puri/ Puranpoli, 3 Vegetables like dry sabji, one with gravy gujarati style and one with paneer punjabi style, one Kathol, one farshan and one sweet. One day we were served with Puranpoli, other day with fruit yogut and third day with dudhpaak. Dinner was also excellent with traditional, bhakhri, rotla, khicdai, kadhi onion-potato dry sabji to exclusive chinese food and punjabi cusine also. Dahivada, and ragdo plus chat. Dudhi Halvo for dinner sweet and also Ice-cream getting served. Special entertainment shows for the children like the Puppet show and the Magic shows are also arranged by the Hotel. The Room service boys and all the staff rather was very co-operative and always on their toes for the customers. I really liked that and appreciate their gesture. The only thing that disappointed me was the Room. The bed were very Old and almost on the verge of breaking and Many tiles were broken. And also in the Bathroom there was on place or space or facility for putting down your towel and clothes. All in all it was a Very good Memorable experience to be at the place and the Hotel also, to start a New year.

Comfortable rooms with good responsive staff

Posted 1 Dec, 2014

We visited this hotel at the month of September, we visited after our college exams so we could chill and get rid off from frustration. The pool was really as big as it appeared in the photographs, the rooms were quite comfortable with 1 master bed and 1 bed cum sofa. Talking about the staff, staff service was really good, service was good because we were getting quick response from the staff and all needs about the lunch, snacks, dinner and even breakfast was fulfilled. As we checked-in the hotel, they provided us with lunch, snacks and dinner. Then on next day they provided us with breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. So we enjoyed food a lot over there. As the location of the hotel was on the top peak of Matheran, so we enjoyed climate a lot over there, it was a foggy weather. I can advise you that if you are planning a holiday in Matheran for 2 days, so you must visit this hotel, Ashok Hotel, Matheran..:)
