Ashtamudi Lake, also known as the gateway to the backwaters of Kerala, is one of the largest and deepest wetland ecosystems in Kerala. The Kallada River is the main river flowing into this lake. All the channels of Ashtamudi meet at the Neendakara Estuary before merging into the Arabian Sea.
