Kolkata is the well place. I went to Kolkata for some important meeting with my partners. For two days we stay Assam Hotel. I cannot see all of the hotel because I had not time to know. But I know that the hotel is very big and there is much room to stay the hotel. I used bathroom two times. In that time I saw that bathroom are big and clean. The hotel staff are cooperative with all people and help them. Food served in the hotel is amazing.
It was nice experience at that place. We enjoyed it well. We stay for two and a half day at that hotel. Nice rooms and many other things are there. But specially the food service is not good. We have to wait more time than generally. We are 5 people in group. We played mostly games and done adventure.
I stayed in Assam House when I was backpacking in West Bengal. The cost is a backpackers dream. You can get a bed for as low as Rs. 50 in the dormitory. Assam House is located in Russell street which is a stone's throw from Park Street. 50 rupees at such a prime location with such amenities is like an offer only availed in dreams. Even single rooms are pretty cheap at Rs. 800. You might need to be a resident of Assam or have a reference from someone in Assam to avail a room or a bed here. Not very sure about this though as I am from Assam and didn't have any problem on this front. However, as expected it is always booked and prior booking is strictly advised. The staff are very helpful and friendly too. Just opposite to Assam house is the Russell Punjabi Dhaba where you can soothe your taste buds to some amazing lassi and butter chicken.
This guest house cum hotel is located in Russell street which is one of the busiest streets in Kolkata. Assam house provides cheap dormitory beds to travellers from Assam. The rooms are spacious and clean. Assamese food is served in the guesthouse which is a delight. Also the staff is very helpful. Lots of places to visit around and go for street shopping. I love the street food in this area. It was quite a memorable stay at Assam House. Would love to visit again.
