We had been to vacation to Ooty & Kodai during August 2014 & stayed at Hotel Astoria as one of the locals suggest this was well known for its vegetarian food. And indeed the vegetarian food at the hotel restaurant was very nice & delicious. The hotel was an average tourist hotel with minimum facilities and amenities. Slightly overpriced as it was close to the tourist destination & Kodai lake which was 10 minutes away. The rooms were clean and tidy with bed well made up. The toilets were clean & well kept. The service was ok types & not extra-ordinary. Can go there for the location convenience & the food.

Had been to Astoria with my husband in August 2015. It was a pleasant place and the stay was very comfortable. Location was central and easy to go to other tourist attractions from there. It was right next to the bus stand. The service was good and the staff polite. The were cosy, neat and well kept. The best part was the vegetarian restaurant there which was very famous in the neighborhood and the food was delicious.

Last year on vacation with family I stayed in Hotel Astoria for lot of reasons. Good location near the bus stand walkable distance from most of the sightseeing places. Neat rooms not more spacious but fit for the purpose. Best vegetarian restaurant attached which is main advantage of the Hotel. Good food at affordable cost, overall suits everyone's budget.

Nice place to stay and it is very near to bus stand and lake just 5 km only, so we go by walk to reach some sightseeing. It is very near to all travels, so we planned easily to go to many places. But some traffic noises were there, other than that this is a superb hotel. Room service is very good in a luxury room.

Located centrally and hence close to the picnic spots. Comfortable rooms at reasonable tariff. Good South Indian good options. Courteous staff and friendly reception desk who would arrange girl tours on request. Great for budget conscious travellers. Excellent choice for tourists to the hill station.

I stayed at the Hotel Astoria for two nights three days with my friends. Very peaceful hotel to stay. Good service with tasty food. The stay was comfortable and prices are reasonable. Room service was good. Very good hotel, in the center of the city with nice open areas and of course clean, tidy room and bathroom. No disturbance from anybody. Managers and service man's are very cooperative.

Read about Astoria restaurant in websites and wanted to give a try. Went there with family for dinner on our first day of stay. Excellent tasting food and excellent service. We liked the food so much that we ended up eating there all the days during our Kodai trip. I would say its a must try place, if you are looking for south Indian veg food.

This was a very good hotel for stay in Kodaikanal. It was centrally located just opposite the bus stand on the Bazar road. Some sightseeing like Bryant Park, Coaker's Walk and even the lake was within walking distance. Being pure vegetarians, we attach lot of value to availability of veg food nearby wherever we go. This hotel had a very good vegetarian restaurant attached to it in which food is available all through the day at reasonable cost and quick service. Some people may not like centrally located hotels in a hill station especially if one wants privacy. But for family travellers like us with senior citizens whose requirements are a little different, more to do with convenience and amenities rather than privacy, this was a very good hotel. One may find the rooms a little cramped with limited space to move about, but other things make up for this. One thing is although the rooms, toilets, etc need a facelift or renovation, the present condition can in no way be termed unacceptable and is more than decent. One drawback was that there was no parking space for cars (we had driven to Kodai by car) and we have to park on the road in front of the hotel but this is OK. A more major issue is that there is no lift. Senior citizens will find it difficult particularly if one gets a room on higher floors. In view of its location, the hotel was very tight on space but they informed that they have plans to install a lift in the future. The best part was we had no reservation and just drove in to Kodai in June first week when it is normally crowded. Most hotels either did not have vacant rooms or the rooms were not worth the quoted rates. The rates in Astoria are still reasonable, I must say and the facilities, convenience, round the clock vegetarian restaurant, location all add up to to a good package. We just rang up after reaching Kodai and still they had vacant rooms. Although we had a senior citizen with us and absence of lift was an issue for us, we still took it as the benefits outweigh this factor. We had stayed in the same hotel way back in Aug 1993 (that's right 21 years back) and we mentioned it to them too and managed to bargain a token discount too. I will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a comfortable and convenient stay in Kodai.
