We stayed at Hotel Atithi, with family including one kid. We had booked Superior room for 3 nights. The room & bathroom are well maintained, neat & clean. But bathroom is very small, especially bathing space. The room has coffee maker, mini-bar (on chargeable basis), complimentary mineral water, hair dryer, electronic locker, etc. All the staff are polite & co-operative. The complimentary buffet breakfast had lot of varieties, both Indian & continental. There is one main restaurant in the hotel, bar & one roof top restaurant (open only in the evening). The swimming pool is also in the roof top, which is clean. We had lunch at the main restaurant, but there is only Buffet lunch & a la-carte is not available. The food was very good & lot of varieties, we could not even taste many items. We had not tried in the night & so no idea. Another plus point is it is very near to MG Road & Nehru market which is the main shopping area of Pondicherry. Since it was Diwali time, it was fun roaming around shops in the night (if you like shopping). But the hotel is located in a calm place, in one corner. The beach is located around 1 km away & you can also walk through some short-cut roads. Even though the check-in time is 12 pm, we reached hotel at around 9 am & checked-in immediately. Both check-in & check-out were also fast. They have not provided any newspaper in the room during our stay. First day, I thought that they might have forgotten, so we reminded them. But every day I used to request to reception & immediately they used to send the same. Also there is no toothpaste or brush in the bathroom & we had not asked also. These are very small things, but a 4 star hotel should take care. Even though there is nothing to complain, we had a feeling that overall it was Very Good but not Excellent comparing to similar hotels in other parts of India, something is missing somewhere.
I have visited Pondicherry along with my family during 2014 year end which is the best time to visit Pondicherry. Initially, We wanted to stay in a beach resort but since we already stayed in one earlier in this trip so we decided to stay in hotel which is near to city center and that's why we Choose Atithi. Its at city center, and near to Aurobindo Ashram and promenade beach . . Ambience is good, Good clean Swimming pool on the terrace, you get a scenic view of the city and Sea. Food is good but bit expensive and staff are courteous, they have a very good options in breakfast but same get repeated every day. They hosted a new year gala party on the terrace which is mandatory for all and highly expensive but they organized it pretty well, my daughter enjoyed a lot. Rooms are decent and clean. They have complimentary WiFi but of no use as it was damn slow. Overall experience was good.

We booked this hotel with reference from my friend. He had given good reviews. We never thought it would that good. Very spacious, clean and comfortable rooms. Very good helping staff, including room service and housekeeping. Its not on beach side but close to many important places. Breakfast buffet was really good. We had a dinner only once on the terrace, it was decent. Swimming pool is really good and my kids enjoyed it almost every day. Good amount of parking. Had driven with my own car. We received very good deal for these rooms. Booked directly on their website. Some offer was running and had expired (1-2 days back). When enquired, they were ready to extent that to us. Overall we were very happy and no glitches at all. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a very good stay.
