Auli

Located some 72 km from Gopeshwar, Auli is very famous for paragliding and skiing. Tourists can get complete views of the snow covered Himalayan Range. Auli also has the longest and highest cable car in Asia that connects Joshimath with Auli. Situated in the Chamoli District, this place is often considered to be a bugyal or a meadow. Tourists can avail skiing courses in Auli as there is a 800 mt long chair-lift and 500 mt long ski-lift that links the lower slopes with the upper. It is better to avoid visiting Auli during the monsoons when the place becomes difficult to access.
