The Avantishwar Temple is among the significant monuments and religious attractions of Pulwama District. This temple is situated in Jawbrari Village of the district and is said to have been built by Raja Awanti Varma, in the 9th Century AD. Raja Awanti also chose this place as his capital, instead of Srinagar. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva, whose idols are installed at this temple.
