"A good sanctuary has been ruined"

  • 2.5/7
  • Posted Dec 18, 2015
This place, once upon a time, used to give a good forest ambience with presence of deer roaming freely. But people abused this place, mostly student couples of Visva Bharati University and local couples of adjacent areas and turned this deer park into lovers' park.

Now deer are only a few, can be seen only during the afternoon hours in a window of just an hour or so - when the sanctuary staff feed them. The forest ambience is gone, people can walk through fenced walkways - limited.

Closed on Wednesdays, no charges for mobile cameras, separate charges for still & video cameras. Not attractive anymore, I won't recommend, it's a waste of time.

"The offbeat wildlife destination"

  • 4.5/7
  • Posted Nov 20, 2015
This forest in Banhabgarh allows a safari trip through the forest. The not maintained jungle outlook does not make visibility of animals clear at all, if you are lucky enough you might find a herd of deer. Get to this place if you want a break through natural greenery.

"Thrill of adventure brings you here"

  • 5.5/7

In the otherwise non-happening town of Santiniketan, the Bandhabgarh forest sounds as a bit offbeat and provides with every facet a jungle can provide. There is arrangement for safaris and if lucky you will be able to see some animals on the safari itself. You can also have a look at the surrounding from the watch tower. Leather is not allowed within the sanctuary premises. Apart from that you can wear a hat or take sunglasses for a comfortable safari.

"Not maintained properly"

  • 4.5/7

It's quite disappointing that we have visited this place with a hope that we could see something but failed to get a glimpse. Mention the same to the ticket counter that our feedback is disappointing.
