This is THE resort if you are looking for a peaceful, soothing, refreshing experience amidst the greens. The best thing about this place, I felt, is the balcony and the scenic beauty you get from there. I could not get enough of it. You can sit, relax, sleep over in the balcony in the cool breeze with no sounds but the birds chirping and the water flowing. Hygenic and antique-styled cottages, a cute play area for kids, TT-badminton-caroms, cycles for rent, swimming pool coming soon, campfire, good food --- they seem to have it all. Good hospitality too. Fully impressed. Dinner could have been a bit better. We didn't go to any sight-seeing places because the stay at this resort was entertaining in itself. The Banasura dam that we had thought of going on our way back was too crowded on Sunday, so we didnt go. The resort offers a small trekking and a herbal bath in a natural stream (do-not-miss-that).
Travelled with my wife for 4 days in December. The resort is slightly diffiuclt to reach as it is fairly far from the large cities nearby, Calicut being the closest. But once you reach here, the resort is set beautifully against the backdrop of mountains with the Banasura dam on the other side. There are hardly any activities to be done except for walks on the road either side of the resort. We found a nice waterfall (Meenmutti if remember correctly) some 3-4 kms before reaching the resort. The staff were extremely courteous and helpful.
I liked the location of the hotel. The management was excellent. I wish we could get loghuts, but they were all full. I'd love to go back and stay in loghuts sometime again! However one thing that I would like to see is more options for food in restaurant. It's a nice place!
There are only 3 things you can experience at this resort- water, forest and hills. There are not many buildings, there are no other people at all, and trust me there is not even a road! Excellent location, good food (at least for Malayalees) and very good service. You don't expect a formal/ professional setting with service people in ironed uniforms walking around greeting you, but you will find friendly people who will help you with everything possible. There are no facilities at the resort other than basic ones, they don't even have a pool, neither a tv! The idea is, it is in the middle of a forest and next to a natural dam, you cannot go there to be in a pool, have fun stuff for your kids. You go there and experience the completely natural setting, walk around, do some trekking and explore nature. Wayanad has a lot of places to be seen, a 3 to 5 day trip is ideal, else choose the minimum 2 or 3 spots/ activites and cut it short to a 2 day trip.
Fantastic view of Banasura Dam from the room balcony. (1st floor). Food and service is awesome...... The people are so friendly...... Had a romantic Candle light dinner in a hut. Worth for money... But not much activities.... Not difficult place to reach...

To celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary we chose this resort. The experience from check-in to check-out was ultimate. I had visited the website a month before and was dreaming to stay in this place. For my surprise Rakesh who is running the resort asked me to transfer only 5,000 in advance. Rest had to be payed in cash while check out. Normally in any other resorts which I have visited so far use to ask us to transfer entire amount earlier itself. He confirmed our stay over email. He is quite approachable over phone and email as well. The package which he customized for us was really great. We had opted for 2 nights and 3 days package. Hubby, I and kid reached Banasura Island little late; manager was in touch with us to guide the route to resort. On the way we could see the Dam gates and there was no water flowing out of the gate. I felt disappointed thinking that there would not be water in the dam. As we proceeded further in forest route in a sudden turn I could spot the resort. The scene was breathtaking. My disappointment blew in air. We reached resort by 3.30 pm. We were welcomed with a good smile and welcome drink by resort staff. As single villa was occupied I had booked Nalukatta room, which was built in traditional Kerala architecture style. Our room was good with 2 balconies- one spacious balcony facing the dam and one smaller balcony facing the hill. Staff told us that chances are there for elephants to come on the nearby hill. Bathroom is very good with gas geyser and a glass window facing the hill. Lunch was available for us and it was tasty. It was an Excellent and hygienic food. Without any hesitation on the quality of food I could feed my kid. After relaxing for some time one of the staff took us to small waterfall which is flowing in the resort. We could spot this fall from our balcony as well. He took very good photos from our camera. As it is a private place without any hesitation people can enjoy in water. We had good onion Pakoda and tea in the evening by enjoying the sight from balcony. Camp fire was arranged by 7.30pm. Dinner was dominated by mushroom items. Manager told us not to miss the sun rise next morning. He added that day’s sunrise was excellent. So I kept the morning alarm at 5.45am as it was foggy we missed the sun rise. By 7am the scene was wonderful and I do not have words to describe. The sun rays had fallen on the opposite hill but the other part of the nature was still foggy. Every cloud has a golden lining. We could hear the birds chirping and the noise from nearby waterfalls. We had a solid breakfast and ready by 9am for jeep safari. Rakesh came to meet us to Dining Hall. We reached the boat jetty with an escort. Speed Boat ride was awesome and the place is picturesque. As we went in private jeep the driver suggested us to visit Karlad Lake. On the way back to resort we visited to one more falls called as Meenmutty falls. (For your information there is a different meenmutty falls in waynad which is more popular) We had to climb a little and we did not go close by to falls as it was tough for us to carry the kid. When kid slept for some time the resort staff carried our kid for some time. After relaxing for some time in resort we went to dining hall for food. Lunch was very delicious and manager told us to get ready for ayurvedic massage. We opted for Head and shoulder massage and the lady did quite well. Evening we went for a small walk on water side. Our escort was explaining on tribals and their activities. My kid enjoyed the walk very much. The best part of this resort is the swing. My kid wanted to have food and sleep on the swing itself. My most awaiting moment came and that was the candle light dinner. They served us good Biriyani’s to our room itself and a good baby food for my kid. As one of us is vegetarian they had prepared Vegetable biriyani as well. We had a good sleep. Next morning we were in little hurry as we had to travel back to Bangalore. Breakfast was as usual ultimate with 4-5 items. My kid, Rohan had become friend to entire staff. With great memories we left the place. Rakesh and his staff have proved to be a good host. Overall experience was memorable.

Location with an awesome view. If only one can go there Monsoon, it would be an even better experience. That apart, its a good value for money yet a luxurious feel to it. Bargain hunter keep out of this place. It is for people who value privacy, relaxed stay, and the lust for the beauty of nature that you have in abundance there. Remote it is, but with a purpose. The Banasura reservoir is the nearest from here. One who has a list of 'to see places', in fixed time frame, this place may not be conducive, one can do the traveling to different spots (as most spots are far from each other in Wayanad) from here but it would be only waste of time according to me, I would rather sit in the balcony and absorb the serenity and calm. The sunrise is picture perfect between two mountains, and you can sit all day seeing different hues of changing characters of the nature at different times of the day. Inspired Kerala architecture, the accommodation is constructed with privacy in mind, also there are common areas for the groups to have their private gatherings. It is clean and comfortable. Activities are unlimited if you are game for it, all you have to do is ask the ever obliging Mr. Rakesh (& Ms. Parvathi) who owns and runs this beautiful place, everything is customized the way you want it, with ample inputs from the resort management. Food is typically Kerala, and very good at that, but one needs to inform in advance if your pallet does not tolerate Black pepper.
