Hotel Review of Jungle Lodges Bandipur Safari Lodge
Comments: Overall it was a very nice experience to spend time at this resort. The location is not exactly inside the jungle (it is on the highway at a very short distance from the jungle entrance). However, the overall package (Jungle safari, Nature walk) makes up for the same. The typical package is for one night in which you are able to do a safari in the evening and a nature walk in the morning. I would recommend spending at least two nights here. This would enable you to do multiple safaris (both morning and evening) and get a far more wholesome view of the forests. This way you can also visit some of the other tourist spots near here like the Gopalaswamy Betta.
Best Experience: The people managing the resort are extremely helpful and go out of their way to ensure that you have a comfortable stay. On the safaris they take great pains to ensure you see more animals. Our great highlight of the trip was to actually view a tiger in the wild. I know this was an extremely lucky sighting but I heard that such sightings are quite common at Bandipur. In our case it was not a fleeting glance. We actually had a Royal Bengal Tiger lying by the side of the forest track less than 15 feet from our jeep. It laid there for about 20 minutes while we merrily took pictures of it. Only when another jeep (having been alerted by our driver) appeared on the scene that the tiger got disturbed and lazily sauntered into the trees.
The rooms within the lodge are clean and airy. They are quite big and comfortable.
Worst Experience: Nothing worth mentioning. Only aspect is that it is not really a jungle resort in the truest sense, since it is technically outside the forest.

We stayed for two nights at Jungle Lodges. It was most memorable experience for us. The ride to the hotel from Bangalore was not at all strenuous. We were taken in for a surprise to see the quality of the rooms. They were very neat and clean. The hotel takes care of keeping you occupied the whole day. The food is delicious and we relished it since it wasnt all that spicy....

If you are visiting Bandipur National Park, then staying at Jungle lodges is your best bet. Not only it is very conveniently located but foremost the safari provided by Jungle lodges is much much better than the one provided forest department in mini bus. Since I have done both the safaris, let me hightlight the differences. Jungle lodges Safari is done in Jeeps and guides/drivers are very keen in showing you wildlife. Duration of safari will be more than an hour....

Jungle Lodge was the fisrt resort to start operations in Bandipur and they have done a good job. But since then, the Bandipur area alone has around 5-6 resorts. This is too unsustainable for the wildlife sanctuary. The service and food at Bandipur is good, rooms are nice. No complaints. Just that there are too many people visiting the sanctuary that makes it noisy and also spoils the chances of spotting wildlife......

Bandipur Safari Lodge was the best jungle stay I've had. The resort is at the fringe of the forest. A 10 minute drive takes you to the forest office and from there they take you inside the jungle. The resort is also close to ooty and gopalswamy betta. So one can have an extended stay and visit these places as well....
