Wine tour in Nandi hills is a very popular option as a quick weekend getaway in the outskirts of Bangalore. This 3-hour guided tour of the only vineyard in Bangalore growing French grapes includes a 90-minute wine tasting session and ends with a lunch buffet in the hills, overlooking the vineyards. A budget-friendly option for groups looking for daylong getaways from Bangalore, this tour is both informative as well as entertaining. Savandurga is formed by two hills – Karigudda (black hill) and Biligudda (white hill) which are perfect for a weekend trek. Situated on the Cauvery River, Hoganekal Waterfall, often called the Niagara Falls of India, is one of the oldest waterfalls in the country. The falls are a favorite among locals and visitors for its coracle rides and medicinal baths. Hoganekal is ideal to visit between December and February.

Other famous Bangalore getaway Shivanasamundra waterfalls promises exquisite views of the river. The Cauvery River bifurcates, resulting in two separate streams of the waterfall that flow side by side. The falls are situated in the Mandya district of Karnataka, and is the location of one of the first hydro-electric electricity plants in Asia. Bandipur Wildlife reserve sanctuary was established as a tiger reserve in 1974 and is part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve.
