The Barah Temple is one of the major revered sites in the township of Basti. It is located on the banks of the river Kuwana at a distance of 15 kilometres west of the town. According to mythological tales, the place was known as Viyagrapuri.
The temple, also referred as Barah Chhatar, is among the chief worship centres of Lord Shiva. Shivaratri is celebrated with great enthusiasm and zeal.
