Barefoot at Havelock Jungle Resort, Havelock Island
Beach N0. 7, Redhanagar Village, Havelock Island, Andaman Islands, Andaman and Nicobar Islands 744211
We just returned from a 3 night stay at barefoot. It was a great experience! Location : Extremely scenic giving one a jungle effect with the beach about 2 mins away. This place is not for the fainthearted. The cottages are situated in the midst of thick vegetation with pathways / walkways having no lights except that from a torch that's provided to you. Encountering all kinds of creepy / crawly / slithering creatures isn't uncommon at all! But what else would you expect if you want a jungle / mangrove effect! The beach is awesome! Miles and miles of white sand and crystal clear waters. Sunset which happened around 4:45 - 5pm is a must see. All this just a stone throw away. Full marks! Rooms : Excellent! Loved the very look of it. Spotlessly clean. One can rise up to the chirping of the birds after a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed, sit out with hot steaming coffee / tea in the sit out and enjoy the breathtaking greenery around. You are in natures own lap! Awesome!! Really loved the way the room is made up in the evening too. Nets are put up to keep out insects. I felt extremely safe esp with a 7 year old. Activities : Apart from swimming / lazing at one of Asia's best beaches, wE did the Scuda dive at Barefoot Scuba. A life time experience. Instructors are skilled and adept. really appreciate the cleanliness and sanitization procedure followed. The yoga center is another place one must visit. Very serene and well maintained. Hats off to the barefoot team. There are few board games that can be borrowed and which the kids can play. Can get a little boring for the kids esp. if they are done with the beach and these games. Better to carry some reading material Overall a great experience and a must stay place.
I stayed in Barefoot, Havelock from 15-Mar-12 till 17-Mar-12 for 3 days and 2 nights. The accommodation was in a AC Andaman Villa. The resort is tucked away in a jungle, very near to the Radhanagar beach. I stayed in Villa #1. You could hear the waves break from your room. The room was large enough for my kid to play and the beds were nice. 2 Adults and a kid could sleep comfortably. The Room ----------- Everything is made of wood and gives a eco-feel to the room. But the down side is, most of the doors, hinges didn't fit correctly. The front door, the wardrobe door, the bathroom door, the side doors all got stuck in between and needed a heavy push to shut them. Minor Niggles ------------- The geyser in my room was something that I had last seen during my child hood days, bigger than a LPG cylinder and took around 10 mins to bring the water to just above cold. The AC didn't work for the first day and the manager offered to get it repaired. But since the kid was sleeping I decided to get it corrected the next day. It was not hot in the night and we could manage with two fans. The amount was refunded during final settlement though. Food -------- The food that's offered in Barefoot is expensive, very expensive. INR 220 for a cup of rice, one cup of Palak Panner, one cup of vegetable fry and one cup of Sambar is not exactly cheap. And so other items on the menu. The food shacks on the road to the main beach are not very inviting and for anything decent you'll have to go to Village #3 which is a good 10 odd km from Barefoot. The breakfast is complimentary and was nice. You get either Indian or continental. Other Activities ---------------- There are a number of things that you could do staying in Barefoot. However the services offered are a tad expensive than what you get in Village 1 or 3. Kayak, Snorkelling, Diving, Fishing, Trekking or some of the activities. The gear less scooters that are offered costs 300 per day with 1 lr of petrol and you could roam around the island. The roads are typical Indian village roads and are free of any forms of traffic.
One of its kind in India, limited rooms but what a place, what a location. Stayed there twice in 2 years and still would stay again if I go back. First the location, it is the only resort on Radhanagar Beach, it is in thick forest which opens on the far end Radhanagar Beach (probably the best beach in India). Rooms are sheer brilliantly designed with local hut designs and interiors is fantastic, bathrooms luxurious. One room is at least few hundred meters away from the other nearest. To reach even reception or dining area, you have to walk a lot in the jungle cum pathways. You will hear sound of only ocean or birds and winds. Resort has its own Elephant which swims in the ocean. Service and food is excellent. Although no telephone or TV or WiFi, but that is the purpose of being there, to disconnect and enjoy the nature. You can enjoy surfing, snorkeling, diving and sea walking all arranged by resort. Or can just enjoy the white sand beach. If you want real luxury amidst best of nature then this is the place.
Its an awesome place, we just loved it - its right on the radhanagar beach (rated in top 10 beaches in the Asia) away from the crowds, the waters are as blue & turquoise as it can get with beautiful sunsets & pristine white sands, heaven on earth.
Amazing experience at barefoot resort, Havelock island, Andaman and Nicobar . It was amazing to land up in barefoot resort surrounded by green and just 100m away from radha nagar beach after almost a day journey from bangalore. We just loved the traditional cottages at first look itself, the path to our cottage from reception is guarded through the torch being provided, with darkness all around. I appreciate the eco theme concept of being away from television, phone and news paper. Very friendly staff and great sea food!! Barefoot has its own sourcing for scuba and snorkeling where one can explore the under water flora and fauna. The beach walk during sun rise and sun set was wonderful. The experience at barefoot was relaxing and can’t wait to go back.
