The Resort has an excellent location; just opposite to the Beach! The hotel is backed by poor maintenance and customer service. Overall, is it not value for the money.

We reached Calicut late in the afternoon after driving from Kannur. This hotel is a surprise package. It\'s right on the Calicut beach and close to the main area like Mananchira Square. One can see the royal tank of the Zamorin. It\'s an old heritage house that has been converted to a hotel now. A large statue of a Kathakali stands at the entrance to greet you. Surprise for cricket fans - the Malabar Cricket club is located right next to the hotel. When you enter, there\'s space to keep your luggage and a cupboard to keep you clothes and personal items. The bathroom is adequately large and has modern facilities. It\'s neat and clean. The rooms as really large with ceiling almost 20 ft high. There\'s also a sit out space for breakfast or just to laze.

My wife and I stayed at the Beach Heritage Hotel in Calicut for three nights in March 08. Based on the other hotels that I saw in Calicut, I am VERY grateful that we got one of the Beach Hotel\'s six rooms. The Beach Hotel is quiet and pleasant, and the location (just across the street from the ocean) gives a great view, and a nearby place to stroll and swim. However, the Hotel does have two bars, and at night they serve dinner on the front lawn, so it is quite busy in the evenings. I also very much appreciated that the Beach Hotel is situated just a block from the famous and fabulous Zain\'s restaurant (Convent Cross Road), and is also walking distance from the other Calicut landmark restaurant, Paragon. So if you become tired of the menu at the Hotel, you don\'t have to go far for alternatives. The staff were all very helpful, friendly and attentive. The room was spacious, and it included an attached porch where we ate our breakfasts. The room has a TV with a good selection of channels, although no English news channels, such as CNN or BBC. If you visit Calicut, I strongly recommend staying at the Beach Heritage Hotel.

The resort is definately a heritage site, but is a little bit run down. it needs upgrading and they need to improve the services. The location is good in front of the sea. The new development of the sea front will add to the value of the resort. They do not have a bar and if you inform in advance, they arrange liquor from outside. Thats a disadvantage. Overall, it is a pleasant neat and tidy place. Good for relaxing, despite being in a city.
