Belur Math is a monastery devoted to Sri Ramakrishna. Formerly, the monastery was known as the Baranagar Math as it was sited at a place called Baranagar. However, in 1899, the monastery was shifted to Belur by Swami Vivekanada, a disciple of Sri Ramakrishna. Belur Math is located just by the side of River Hooghly. Tourists mainly gather at the site to view the architectural style of this Hindu Monastery.
