Munnar food, sight-seeing and shopping options
A lot of places to see in and around Munnar, the famous ones being the Eravikulam National Park, The tea museum, Top Station, Echo point, etc. Local tourist cabs have a package which covers all these places. Restaurants are mostly attached to hotels and resorts in Munnar. There are individual restaurants only in Munnar Town. Hotel Sarvana Bhavan (not the Chennai chain) and Hotel Shree Nivas are the only two vegetarian options available. Food is traditionally south Indian but they also offer some Chinese stuff. Shopping in Munnar is mainly fresh tea, spices, dry fruits and oils (Ayurvedic).

Started in the mid-90’s, this resort is located 3 ½ hours from the Cochin International Airport, amidst the layers of tea gardens of Munnar. Designed with reference to Colonial architecture. Fort Munnar features a 150-pax conference facility, gym, a 24-hour coffee shop overlooking the Anayirangal Lake, and a multi-cuisine restaurant. Spread over 10 acres, the property is surrounded by rich forest and tropical plantations of tea, coffee, cardamom and other spices. Good property, courteous people but too slow. Asked for coffee and tea at 5 in the evening and got at 12 at night! That too, the fellow rang the bell - had to jump out of room! Water gets brown...
