About Betaab Valley

voted as clean

Betaab Valley, situated just 7 km up on Pahalgam, has got its name from Sunny Deol’s movie, Betaab, which was shot extensively in this area. Surrounded by snow-covered mountain peaks and dense pine and deodar forests, this valley is the mouth of River Sheshnag. There is a beautiful garden in the valley, with a bridge to cross the river. The Pahalgam Development Authority has proposed to develop this valley as a beautiful holidaying spot and is thus, carrying out several construction activities in the region.

"Magical Place"

The first thing to know that the it got the name Betaab due to the shooting of Sunny Deol movie BETAAB. The ride upto Betaab Valley is nice and there is such nice scenery on either side of the road. The main attraction of the valley is the stream that flows through it and the ultra-clear really cold water it has :). Do give it a visit.

Place where one can sit and relax on the lawns, drink in the scenery, click lovely photographs. Please take care of kids on the wooden bridge across the rivulet as there was a fatality just before we arrived on the location. Gardens are well-maintained.

"Awesome and beautiful panoramic views"

The valley got its name from the Sunny Deol-Amrita Singh hit debut film Betaab. Nice place for kids to play around, milky white waterfalls for all to enjoy. Surrounded by hills and flow of water makes the place memorable. Betaab Valley is a very popular touristic destination. Betaab Valley is also a favourite campsite of travellers as it also serves as a base camp for trekking and further exploration of the mountains.

Betaab can be reached by booking a taxi from Pahalgam. The valley is surrounded by mountains with cold water flowing. The beauty here will make you feel close to the nature. You can take lot of scenic pictures here. You can enjoy sunlight and make yourself much more comfortable. A must visit place in Pahalgam.

"Beautiful valley with spectacular view"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted Dec 6, 2015
It is located between Pahalgam and Chandanwari, 11 Km from Pahalgam. I have been there along with my family on 23rd April 2014 and everywhere greenery. It is called Betaab Valley due to one Sunny Deol's bollywood movie 'Betaab' shoot here.

It 'a beautiful valley A meadow, crossed by a stream, well-maintained, between high mountains and beautiful forests, where you enter by paying a pittance. It frequented by vacationers who stop for walks and picnics, happy to see for yourself the setting for many films and serials where they recited their favorite celebrities. The atmosphere is happy, as in so many other beautiful places of Kashmir. Given 4 star for its beauty, authenticity and for the extraordinary hospitality of its inhabitants.

Tip - Generally hotel arranged day tour for Beetab, Aru and Chandanwadi. However, I suggest from my experience avoid Aru and Chandanwari there is nothing spectacular to see, spare more time in Beetab instead and enjoy picnic with your family. The air was so nice and fresh. The view was spectacular. Highly recommended for families with kids.

"Splendid - Excellent - Outstanding experience"

This is truly heaven on earth. The River Lidder flowing through very silently across a well manicured big park with outstanding hill views. You can even view the Chandanwari Peaks if lucky and the beauty of this place is soaked only if you stay here for 1-2 hours and keep glancing the views and locations all around.

"A major attraction"

  • 5.0/7
  • Posted Nov 2, 2015
It's the major tourist attraction in Pahalgam, went there in June, 15. It's a widespread valley, well maintained by the local pda.
Pros- scenic view of the river, nice ice cream spot in the middle.
Cons- it was quite hot at that point of time (afternoon), had to look for shade under trees and hefty entry fee.
