The
Bhamragarh Wildlife Sanctuary, located in the Chandrapur District of
Maharashtra, is a prime location for spotting several wild animals, many of
which are endangered. Covering an area of about 105 sq. kilometres, the
vegetation at the Bhamragarh Wildlife Sanctuary consists primarily of moist
deciduous mix forests.
Enjoy
the beauty and the thrill of the jungle as you find yourself surrounded by the
luscious flora and fauna of the sanctuary. Some of the most common trees found
in the area are Jamun, Bamboo, Bel, Kusum, among several others. Known for its
varied wildlife population, dont be surprised if you look upon a leopard,
jungle fowl, wild boar, flying squirrel, barking deer or a sloth bear at
occasional spots in the sanctuary. One can even find wetlands in the protected
area. Notable among them are Pamalgautam and Parlkota rivers, which runs
through the protected area.
An
interesting point about the Sanctuary is that the population of the area in and
around Bharmragarh is mainly tribal. The people who live here mostly belong to
the Gond and Madia tribe and lead a lifestyle that is primitive in every sense
of the word, with high dependency on the forest for their sustenance.
The best time to
visit the place is between February and May. The rainy season is between June
to September. Easily accessible, the Bhamragarh Wildlife Sanctuary is a popular
tourist destination, for its splendid beauty and the rustic Gond and Madia
tribe, which easily intrigue tourists. |
