Bilasgarh was once a big and important city during the Khechi kingdom. This city was destroyed by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb during a campaign to overcome his lust for the daughter of the Khechi king. The princess committed suicide by jumping into the Bilasi River and since then, the spot is known as Kanyadeah.
