Birds View Resort, Kasauli
Shiv Parbat, Mashobra Old Kasauli Road Kasauli
My husband and I (both retired) along with our grown up son wanted a get away from it all to a blissfully calm existence. We thought we would see a hotel for ourselves and then book as often what you hear is not what you get. This hotel was everything the owner said it would be. About 2.5 km down the old Kasauli road, the resort is a cliffhanger, literally. In fact, local hoteliers themselves recommended Birds eye for its view. Though season was officially on from March 15th (we were there March 25th, 2014) there was no rush yet so we had a choice of rooms. The manager was kind enough to show as many as rooms as we asked to see and recommended the best view room. Truly it was spectacular with valley and mountain view right from the bed (which was very comfortable), the window, and the balcony. It was a three sided open view and you could see right up to Chandigarh and right down the winding old Kasauli Road. At night lights twinkled on all sides down the valley. In fact, we could catch splendid sunsets from the balcony. We couldn't bring ourselves to leave, the room and the hotel exuded such a pleasant atmosphere. And we got a good discount too. The owner was most kind and his son who stays on the premises did his best to facilitate connection as tower signals were a bit tricky. The staff was cheerful and prompt. The food did not match up to the rest of the facilities though it was not bad. It was priced high like any other hotel in the hills with no recourse to dining nearby. I think the restaurant is on contract. Anyhow, I really liked the idea of having room slippers for the occupants to change into once you walked into the room. As also the electric kettle and coffee, tea , sugar and milk sachets which were replaced every day. There were almost 3 quilts per person stored in the room. The toilet was sanitized everyday and housekeeping never slipped up in cleaning the room or providing adequate number of towels. Shampoo and body gel were replaced each day. By the way, it is pet friendly, a great boon and also a nice feeling knowing you are among dog lovers. There is a resident pug and other dogs too . As we had taken our car, going to the upper mall or anywhere nearby was no problem. Young people would have no problem with the climb. However, I was fully prepared for this as I did not want to stay in the heart of the market which has some small but good eateries and local wines and preserves. Take the 'Yellow' room. We stayed in that so we can vouch for it. They also have an open air restaurant, a sun room etc. And we found that a lot of expansion was on the anvil with a lot more additions anticipated. We suggested that they have a library. I must say they were kind enough to bring the carom board to the room, a game I had not played in ages. I think it brought us closer as a family. For TV lovers, yes they have a lovely TV with all the channels that we see. All in all, they were ever ready to oblige and I would like to go back there anytime. Take my word for it. Next time I would carry binoculars to follow the birds that sang around the balcony and track the cars and buses winding down the old Kasauli road. And my son who is a musician would definitely carry his guitar.
Yes the heading is true. I loved the hotel. It has spectacular views. I stayed there for one day though I had booked for two days, and it almost felt like I was on top of the world. Everything else, the surrounding mountains, birds, trees, clouds was below us. It was simply like staying in the open mountains with spectacular views. You can also see the sunrise and sunset right from your bed. We stayed in room number one. It was apparently the mid category room. Didn't much like the location of the cottages. The orange room (as it had most of the interiors in orange) also has a similar view. The food was good as well. You should be able to spot a lot of Langurs basking in the sun on the hills around the hotel. It has very good and helpful staff. I wanted to cancel a day's stay in the hotel as there was not much to do in Shimla and the manager was very co-operative.
This is a beautiful city in Himachal Pradesh and I visited here with my family and we booked two rooms for 5 days and it was a very fun and memorable time for all of us and my kids enjoyed a lot here. Location was perfect it was full on greenery and fresh air was coming in room. Space was decent and amenities were very good. My kids loved this hotel's food very much and they enjoyed and had a very nice time here.
We visited there in the month of September and spent 3 nights. The place is absolutely superb and nature's beauty is at its best. The day we arrived had a showering and weather was fantastic. Hotel was also good and the best part was its food. It was delicious and tasty. Hotel staff was a polite and behaved very well.
I went to birds view Kasauli for relaxation as life was becoming really hectic. I chose this property to stay which was the perfect destination for this purpose. Location was very nice, far yet near from the city. Rooms was neat and clean. At reception Mr Raja, was very helpful. The whole staff of the hotel was very good, humble and helpful. Food was very good just like home. Best part was the attitude of staff towards the guests and also the hospitality. The hotel is very beautifully located. It was a great stay.
