Bodhi Tree, one of the chief revered locations, is believed to be the place where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment. The tree is believed to be the sapling of original Bodhi tree, which was taken away by King Ashoka's daughter to Sri Lanka.

There is a red sandstone slab under the tree, known as Vajrasana or the diamond throne. Located behind Mahabodhi Temple, the revered 115 years old tree stands 80 ft high.

It was one of the best moment of my life to see Bodhi tree. There were a lot of travelers who came from across the world to see Bodhi tree and many other religious places. This attraction shows that how old and beautiful is the Bodhi tree.

"The tree of Enlightenment"

  • 7.00/7

Sitting with the hundreds of Buddhist monks around the tree of enlightenment, chanting prayer hymns, takes you to a time long back. It makes you feel relaxed just sitting on the marbled flooring under the shade of one of the oldest religious trees of the world.
