Bodhi Tree

It is under this tree that Prince Siddhartha Gautama, the spiritual teacher who later became to be known as the Buddha, attained enlightenment. It is believed that Prince Siddhartha had to sit and meditate under this tree for seven days. Later on, a shrine known as Animisalocana Cetiya was erected on the spot where he had sat down. A small temple was also built near the Bodhi tree in the 7th century.

A soulful trip feels extremely spiritual

It is all up to you how much you of the visit out get put of your visit. ....a personal experience.People coming there are extremely spiritual, polite and welcoming. A lady for instance, showed me the way of prostrating and praying and explained the significance. They are always willing to share. Be careful of the gold foils that some devotees bring to rub onto the trees boundary as it is likely to stick on to your clothes or objects and not easy to take off. Also, please go with time on hand (duration your choice) so that you can experience blissful meditation under the Bodhi tree. Sometimes you may get distracted with the loud portable microphones that some groups from Buddhist countries use. Have patience, you will have a unique experience.Make sure you take a guide with you. He will show you all the seven spots The Bodhi Tree, the view point from where he gazed at the enlightenment spot, the Footprints etc. in each of which Buddha was supposed to have spent 7 days each, the bells made of different metals, the serene spots and so on. He will also tell you about the history of the Bodhi tree.

Very good place with awesome temple

Very huge temple of Buddha and the place of Bodhi Vruksha. There is a fence around the tree and you cannot touch it. Temple is awesome and surroundings are pleasant and crowded with Buddhist monks and their chanting. Cell/Shoe/bag lockers are available for free.

Historic Tree

According to legend, Buddha became a Buddha under this tree. Well, one of its ancestors. The current tree is apparently the 5th or 6th descendant of the original. It stands just behind the main temple. There is always some prayers or meditation session going underneath it. The actual tree is just a tree, its just the significance of the spot that makes it special.

A place to begin your journey to paradise

Very few places are there which sybolises the knowledge and what if that knowledge is the key to the Paradise "Truth & Peace". Ambience of this place will let you feel the breezes of enlightenment blowing through lord Buddha's tree (Bodhi Tree). Bodhi temple is always ready to mesmerize you with it's charm. Though the place is always carrying its beauty but in the hue of winter your visit becomes indelible. On December 8, Bodhi day is celebrated by Buddhists which no one wants to miss. People chanting the prayer and rythm of the prayer will fill you with the spirituality. Truly a place to begin to paradise, where would you like to begin from ?

Bodhi Tree - Tree of Awakening

The Maha Bodhi Tree ("Tree of Awakening") in Bodh Gaya is a direct descendant of the Peepal tree under which Siddharta Gautama attained enlightenment. The tree is surrounded by a wall and can not be touched by the visitors. Its your devotion that brings you here.
