About Bushy Dam

The Bushy Dam is located in the backdrop of scenic hilly terrains between Lonavala and I.N.S. Shivaji. During vacations and on weekends, this site is sought after for its hilly terrains and natural surrounding views.

Tourists come over from various places to visit the waterfalls, which are formed when the water gushes out through the dam during the monsoon months. Adventure activities such as swimming are restricted during the monsoon months.

The site is located on to the I.N.S. Shivaji road and hence can be reached by tourists by boarding the buses plying on this road.

"An Old Dam" new review

  • 5.5/7
  • Posted 2 weeks ago
Visited Bhushi Dam afternoon which is next to Lonavala Lake and on the way of Lion Point about 6 km from Lonavala. The Dam is in between mountains and covered by a wall of stone made at British Rule. We can go to up by climbing some steps up to this wall from where we can see the Dam. At the time of our visit there was too less water in Dam. In monsoon there is point from where where water is overflowed and here are some steps where visitor can seat and enjoy overflowing water. So Monsoon is the season, if you want to enjoy the dam at its best. There is a waterfall located very close to the dam, you can manage your time accordingly. You can add Bhushi Dam in to your cart of visiting place in Lonavala.

We have been to Lonavala many times before and we will go many times in future also. The best way to enjoy monsoon is to have weekend trip to Lonavala, and spend time at Bushy Dam, totally in love with this place.

"Visit in Monsoon only"

  • 6.0/7

I have visited Bushy Dam twice, once during monsoon and once during winter. But if you want to view the real beauty of the dam then visit it in monsoon. It was an awesome scene when I went to Bushy Dam during monsoon. On the back side of dam there are stairs on which water floats and people take bath on it.

We also took the bath and enjoyed a lot! The way upto the stairs or dam from road where you park your vehicle is also very adventures, you may have water upto your knees and you have to cross it. It would be very adventurous. Do not forget to visit Bushy Dam if you are in Lonavala.

"Family place to visit"

It's beautiful especially in rainy season soothing place, fog, eating food joints are available, kanda bhaji, corn, tea. A purely picnic place, bring a pair of clothes and slippers, because if you'll go into the waist wear you'll get wet.

"Just a 1 time see"

  • 3.0/7
  • Posted 2 months ago
Initially some few years back Bushy Dam used to be fun, nice crowd, neat, clean. But now the crowd that comes in is really bad, mostly boys, extremely dirty to even step in forget about taking a bath and all.

There are better and nicer places in Lonavala to enjoy than the Bushy Dam. It's a 1 time watch surely but then not really that you would like to spend much time.

"Good family place to visit"

  • 5.0/7

This dam is worth visiting. Go this place just after summer when rainy season starts in mid July. Try to take pairs of clothes for bathing purpose as your casuals are going to get wet. Bring a pair of slippers or you are gonna have to pay for sleepers because there is water everywhere and you do not want to get them wet. It's just a place where you can bathe and play not a picnic place. It's worth visiting and go there with light baggage not requirements for heavy baggage. Avoid going other side of dam if you don't know how to swim. It's free of cost to visit. Enjoy roasted corn after playing in water. Go to this place at noon time it's best time to go to this place. It's 5-6km from Lonavala railway station.

The Bushy Dam is pleated on Indrayani River. It has cool water with warm sunshine makes place enjoyable. On the top side of dam the hot bhaji and tea are available which is refreshing the atmosphere. A good weekend holiday to be visited during October to March.

"Big no for people with family"

  • 1.0/7
  • Posted 2 months ago
The place is nothing but a small reservoir during non monsoon time. To reach where you can see some water you need to walk through dirty and rocky area. Be utmost careful as these rocks are slippery too. Families with small children and aged parents should miss it without any regret. Big no for this place.

"Excellent spot"

  • 5.0/7

An excellent spot for photography. You can also bathe in the dam. Beware there are shops in front of the dam which will tell you to put your slippers as you need to cross some 2 channels of water and without slippers there are many rocks which will hurt you. They will charge you 10rs for rent and give you a bathroom slippers for 30rs to use it. Hence my suggestion when you plan to go take a bathroom slippers which you can were in waters. Also be cautions the rocks are slippery.
