I had a great experience at the resort due to the openness of the place, the suite provided together ness with privacy.

About The Byke Retreat

The Byke Retreat is set within a seven acre wooded estate in the hill station of Matheran at 800 MSL. The retreat has independent cottages, jogging paths within the estate and a health spa. The Byke was built in 1854 by the ‘discoverer’ of Matheran, Hugh Malet. 100 km from Mumbai, Matheran town does not allow vehicles within the town limits. Matheran is ringed by walking tracks that lookout across sheer drops to the plains. There are 33 look out points, the most famous of which is Hart point. The best seasons are Nov-Feb and April-June.

Rooms & Amenities

There are 3 types of rooms. Deluxe bedrooms and exclusive suites have independent access and verandahs. Duplex cottages have a living room, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The room facilities include satellite TV, channel music, and telephone. Recreation facilities at the retreat include tennis, badminton, table tennis and a swimming pool. The restaurant serves only vegetarian food, Gujarathi/Rajasthani thali lunch and mixed cuisine buffet at dinner. A conference room to seat a hundred guests is available.
