Cankamana is among one of the articles, which was purified by the pious presence of Lord Buddha. It is one of the pathways which was utilised in the third week of enlightenment by Lord Buddha for the purpose of meditation. This pathway is located towards the northern fringe of the Bodhi temple complex.
On this pathway, spots which were believed to be blessed with the feet of Lord Buddha have been carved into black stone lotuses. In addition, this pathway is considered sacred by many and is worshipped by the devotees visiting this place. Tourists travelling to this place can see several monks and Bhikkus in the vicinity of this spot chanting prayer.
