Excellent location and good appearance

5.5/7
Posted 31 May, 2016

I visited this hotel in the month of August. The location of the hotel was excellent even though it is far from the city. The appearance of the hotel was good looking. There was no delay in check in and check out process. The overall services in the hotel by the staffs were good. The room provided was good. The hotel destination was below average.

Very hygienic place and great hospitality by owner

6.5/7
Posted 17 Oct, 2015

The place is really very hygenic and maintained very well and its a lush green coffee estate which has a beautiful view from the terrace. It is only 50 kms away from Shingeri and Horanadu. December and January would be the ideal time to visit since the weather would be really chill and it would really awesome. The food that is served is exceptional and the hospitality of the owners are really. great.

A quite piece of jewel in the middle of nature!

If you are looking at experiencing Chikmagalur in it's most earnest sense then this is definitely the place to stay in. A homestay that makes you feel like you are home away from home- in the truest sense of that phrase. Couple of points that make this the homestay of choice for me are the following: *Location: This homestay is in the middle of Chikmagalur and flanked by mountains and forests on either side. Also it isn't very far from the street so making accessibility quite easy. * Rooms: Very basic house on the 1st floor with a hall, 3 bedrooms and attached bath. Yes the building looks old but really for me I thought it had a rustic feel to it- like truly living in the forests. *Food: This was just amazing. The owners (Uncle and Aunty) are very good hosts and really serve up food cooked with a lot of love. The spread for all 3 meals seldom are similar and is always delicious. (should you like Coorgi preparation, then inform the owners ahead of coming because it is really good stuff) There is not much to do in a forest, well except from light trekking and exploring the fields. This property sits in a huge space and has a lot of natural produce. Uncle is quite a joy to chat with and you will begin to enjoy his company. If it isn't raining you could request for a bon fire which let me tell you is so much fun. I truly like this homestay, my favorite in Chikmagalur and I'd definitely recommend going here. Headsup lots of leeches so wear cover-up footwear and carry salt/ lights to ensure protection should you get leeches climb on you.

Nice place to stay

The location of the hotel was good. I had been there with family for relaxation. Wi-Fi facility was not there in the hotel. The hotel staffs were professional, friendly and helpful. Booking and front office was good. There was no delay in check in and checkout procedure. The room was small, neat, clean and well maintained. All the basic amenities provided in the room were working fine. They served both vegetarian as well as non vegetarian food. The quality of the food was good.

Comfort, cuisine and conversations

6.3/7

We were a group of four people visiting chickamaglur for a couple of days for a weekend trip and stumbled upon this place online. Me and three of my Cousins stayed over at Mr.Nachappa and Mrs.Meenakshi's estate for two nights and two mornings whilst we explored the mountains and forests around. Added to the comfort, food and hospitality, are the awesome view of mountains, falls and greenery of chikmagalur :) First off, the estate is fairly easy to find (unless we are looking for it in middle of night), its on the main road from Chikamagalur to Shringeri, The place is fairly clean, with three rooms, a furnished living room with a tv, separate bathrooms for rooms, hot water, warm comfortable beds and wardrobes for luggage and the place is quite spacious and can accommodate a large group of 10 or above with ease. The hosts, the couples Mr.Nachappa and Mrs.Meenakshi are kind, warm and welcoming and i must add their hospitality is just as good as their warmth and kindness. It didnt feel like we were in a place away from home and we got accustomed to the place swiftly and with ease :) Thank you Mr and Mrs.Nachappa (As one of our friends fondly addressed them Nachappa uncle and Meenakshi aunty) for making our trip a comfortable and memorable one. To elaborate on the title of this review, Comfort - It was very comfortable, the homestay quickly felt like home, the rooms cozy and comfortable, all promised amenities available given the circumstances and challenges of the place. { Nachappa uncle you are awesome :) } despite heavy rainfall, challenges of accessibility, rough terrain, power cut due to fallen over trees to damage electric poles, added to the fact that we arrived at 1.30 in the night instead of the promised time of 8.30 pm, the rest we got was good enough to rejuvenate us and drain the fatigue of traveling from the city of Bangalore. Cuisine - Exquisite !!!Both veg and non -veg :) Aunty can easily dominate the world of master chefs with her gifted variety, quality and quantity of better than most expectations cuisine :) Loved the coffee :) fresh ground coffee beans grown in their estate and the mastery of meenakshi aunty makes an awesome combo for top notch coffee :) Conversation : Whats a home without conversation ? the fun, laughter, knowledge an the occasional sharing of wisdom and insights will be highlight of your stay here :) Definitely would reccomend this place for all people looking for what we found :) Comfort, food, fun and a view of forests and mountains ;) http://www.tripadvisor.in/ShowUserReviews-g297629-d1999878-r281979296-Castle_Rock_Home_Stay-Chikamagalur_Karnataka.html#

Good hotel and rooms

Overall, my experience in this hotel was good. There was no problem to find the hotel. Pickup and drop was available there. I went there by my own vehicle. One person from the hotel side guided us very much. There was a big space for parking. Staff behaviour was very polite and very good. Room was good. It was an old building but it was clean. Hotel was located in the middle of the coffee estate. Breakfast and dinner was included in my package and it was very good. Whatever we want in food they cook for us. It was an old building only it needs to be painted and the interior should also be needed.
