Chennai food, sight-seeing and shopping options
Actuaclly its a better idea to book a resort and have food there.Book a car for side seeing and visit the places like beach, temple, sculptures. Near the sculptures there is shopping and even near the beach .Some good stuff like gift items available.the sculptures should be seen which is the major tourist attraction .We can book a guide to listen to their explanation of the sculptures. The beach is wonderful to be watched in the evening asround 5pm.Everyone returns home with lots of good experience after visiting mamallapuram.

Hotel Review of Courtyard Chennai
Comments: I was in the courtyard by the Mariott on a business trip for 2 days. The overall experience was pretty good in terms of the location of the hotel, connectivity and their attention to security(i was told this was because of one of their hotels elsewhere being a target to an attack). Once inside, the restaurant, rooms and the business center made up for an ambient business setting. The customized working lunch to supplement a sumptious American plan breakfast was just right on tha palate. Internet connectivity and other facilities to aid a working weekend was perfect. I was surprised to see vacationing families in the hotel which was later justified by the screening of popular cartoon shows on the big screen accompanied with some live country music. What more can one ask for on a typical hot chennai summer weekend. The only think i felt lagging at the cortyard was the absence of a swimming pool. This was promptly attributed to the lack of precious real estate space..but i wouldn't buy that !!
Best Experience:
The business center, very well maintained rooms and the health club and the lounge bar impressed me the most. As a group we all shared the same viewpoint on this. The lounge bar is one of the best i have seen in a chennai hotel with a very decent crowd to complement the ambience. The music was also retro and made one tap foot to the beats. The food is also great in the lounge bar and i would recommend this over the restaurant for the evening meal after a nice downing of the spirits. The hotel's commitment to help upkeep the environment is commendable as they were judiciously replacing consumables in the suites. Speaks of the Mariott class world wide.
Worst Experience: I wouldn't like to call it a worst experience at the courtyard, but certainly felt the absence of one viz- The swimming pool. I cannot imagine a hotel of this class and reputation without a swimming pool in a hot, humid tropical city like chennai. Some other hotels in this class in the same city have managed this very well. The park for one has managed a small pool on their terrace on the eigth floor !!! Surely Mariott can do something about this as guests to this hotel would surely want to soak in a nice pool after a day's work or leisure. I had to make up with the Jacuzzi for a soak, i must say here that the steam and jacuzzi is very neat manned by courteous staff.
