Chikmagalur food, sight-seeing and shopping options
You can stay in Nature Nirvana homestay which is located in the BababudanGiri range of hills in a scenic location amidst Coffee plantations. Mullayangiri and BabaBudan Giri are a must visiting hills. Even in peak summer, these hills are cool with lot of greenery/vegeatation in the hills. If you reach the peak of the BB Hills, you will be in the clouds and that's an amazing experience. You will that you are in a dreams. You can buy Coffee from Chikmagalur.

Hotel Review of Hunkal Woods
Comments: Hunkal woods resort is located in a great location...the surrounding view is awesome. I visited this resort in the month of August 2008, so it was raining heavily and everywhere it was green. We went in a group of 6 adults and 2 infants with 100% advance payment. It takes 6 hours from bangalore to reach this place. We were told that once you reach Hunkal woods, there would be people waiting to receive us and take us up to the resort in 4 wheel drive vehicles. But we couldnt find anyone waiting and lost our way. That was the first sad experince. We were told that the entire bunglow would be provided to us. The bunglow looks great from outside, but inside the condition of rooms is just about average. Water was leaking from common area and also one of the rooms. The mattress used in one of the beds was wet and inspite of our telling them, they didnt change it in the first night. Moreover, the TT table was being used as dining table and meals were served there even for people who were staying outside the bunglow. This, kind of, eroded our privacy and this was the second sad experince. Food quality was good, but for all you non vegeterians, please be prepared for the worst as getting non veg is highly unpredictable.
The people who served there were well behaved, but the service was a bit erratic. for example, we had to repeatedly ask for the same thing, sometimes, they just forgot.
Best Experience: The best experince we had was the great view of the mountains around the resort and absolutely great coffee being served in the resort
Worst Experience: No people to guide us on our arrival. This left a bad taste. There were no mobile signals, which made matter worse. Food variety was very very limited, non veg people will have a tough time. Rooms were leaking, mattress was wet. No privacy as dining area inside the bunglow which we reserved was used for all guests in the resort.

Hotel Review of Hunkal Woods
From office, a group of 10 had gone to Hunkal Woods on the weekend of 14th June. The place is about 30 km from Chikmagalur and the roads till the entrance to the estate are really nice. Since we went there during the rains, the estate roads were slushy and our Tempo traveler got stuck and had to be towed by a tractor. Guess going there during the rains will not be a good idea, if you're going to drive down....
