Hotel Review of Nature Nirvana
Comments: Well, my resolution this year is to travel more.. and i decided to start within my state - Karnataka. I must say that there could not have been a more perfect start that with Nature Nirvana. As the name suggests it is for total nirvana. Its is certainly not a place if what you are looking for is high energy, action and adrenaline rushes. Its is the perfect getaway for the weekend after you busy 9-6 routine. Its about a 5- hour drive from Bangalore, considering you start really early in the morning. Many places that you can stop on the way for breakfast. The drive to Nature nirvana is pretty good if can manage to skip the traffic in Nellamangala. But overall Nature Nirvana is totally worth it.
Best Experience: We arrived tired and hungry; and well enough a 4 course home cooked meal was waiting for us. The food here is so good. You can actually taste all the care that has gone into making your food like you would if you visited your grandparents. The rooms are impeccable and the toilets have all the High end specifications. Hot water is available 24 hours. Do remember that phones do not work here irrespective of what your service provider promises you, there is no network! There is beautiful river stream that flows (Photo1) which was a very cleaning experience. Also, tucked away in a corner are the cascades (Ideal for skinny dipping). Unfortunately, my camera ran out of battery so i couldn't get a shot of the cascades. We also did a 4 hour trek along the coffee estate. there are also guided treks to the sunset point on this estate.
Worst Experience: The only bad thing i can put a finger on is that i couldn't stay there for more that two days! But I'm definitely going back!!

The place is good if you are not used to estates. There are no much activities or tourist spots. There are just coffee plantation and native coffee workers doing their regular work. Its a beautiful place for relaxation, where we do nothing other than spending time with nature, playing with kids and family, some indoor games. The rooms are 'value for money', and not luxury. A stream passes as a small waterfall for mountain dip. Stress relieving to see, hear the stream....

It will be a great getaway if you keep some points in mind before booking it. If you have a saloon car or a vehicle with low chassis, please do drive very carefully. If it is raining then you have more reasons to park your vehicle at chikmagalur and rent a Sumo for Rs 700 (in Aug 2007) for a one way drop. staying at nature nirvana was trulely attaining nirvana....pure bliss....the lofty mountains, the mysterious green coffee estates, the exotic perfume of coffee and the fresh mountain air itself...was a ablm to our souls, specially my over-worked techi husband!..I would grate the mountain experience 10, if given the choice..., well, chickmagalure is about 6hours from Bangalore...ok, but the only complaint, I had was the home stay was about 11/2 hours from chickmagalur itself...though the raods are good, the last 6-7 km stretch...

My wife and I went there for our second marriage anniversary and believe me, we were pleased by its offerings in terms of natural environment and hospitality. They delivered more than what they had promised verbally (during reservations) and what is mentioned on their website. Good value for money and time spent. It's a must see place for folks who admire nature and like to be in peace when they travel....

The annexe rooms that were provided to us need quite a bit of maintenance. In general we found that the Mathias family has just created the resort to get the running expenses of their house and not in any way to provide people like us with quality stay. There is a lot of scope for improvement...
