This hotel is one of the best hotel in Udaipur, having all facilities for the tourist, food quality is good, servie is very prompt, conveyance for any other place is easily accessible from this place, we love to be here again. Manger of this hotel is very polite and caring.
I stayed at the Chunda Palace hotel for a night in the early part of March this year, whilst attending a friends wedding here. My first impression of the hotel was that it mixed traditional Rajasthani architecture with a mix of modern amenities. The check in process was easy, and once done, I was at the room. The room had a lovely Rajasthani mural on the wall of Krishna and Radha, and it truly was amazing. It was really wonderful to see that the hotel maintains such an elegant touch of traditional Rajasthani architecture and paintings. The best bit was the view of the lake from the terrace of the hotel - truly surreal! Lovely hotel indeed!
We stayed at Hotel Chunda Palace from 18th September, 2015 to 21st September, 2015 and the experience was nothing less than a Royal treatment Hotel Chunda Palace is built and owned by a Royal family who stay at the third floor and all other rooms are open for tourists. This property is around 27 kms from Maharana Pratap airport, which is around 45 minutes ride. You would get breath taking views from the hotel terrace of Oberoi Udaivillas (just a boundary apart) & Lake Pichola, whixh would leave you totally mesmerized We had booked a Palace room, but Hotel Chunda Palace upgraded us to their luxurious Historical Suite (Room No. 307), as a special gesture. The Historical Suite leaves you speechless the moment you enter it and makes you feel like King and Queen. Exceptional art work on walls and roof, furniture give you true flavor of Rajasthani art and royalty. All rooms in Hotel Chunda Palace have Bath tubs fitted with Jacuzzi and all toiletries are up to the mark. Room service and cleanliness is exceptional. Special mention of Devendra Singh, Deepak Banal and Chuni All ji at the Royal Cuisine restaurant, who are always on there toes to provide you with best in class service We had opted for Breakfast and Lunch/Dinner inclusive plan, which was one of the best decisions. After a Continental and India breakfast at the hotel you can go for Udaipur sightseeing and get back to the hotel for your dinner. Master Chef Biplab Biswas is your best friend at Royal Cuisine restaurant. He was the one who took special care of all our requests and treated us with lip smacking vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes Overall, a complete luxurious, royal and memorable experience at Hotel Chunda Palace!
Taking a break from our busy schedule was on our mind when we started planning for a early summer break. After looking for various options we decided to head towards the "Venice of India" - Udaipur City. It was a breath taking experience to be surrounded by beautiful lakes, cold breeze and the scenic beauty. We decided to stay at Chunda Palace, a heritage hotel located at the sides of Pichola Lake. The reason we selected this hotel was because of its spectacular location and royal background of the Mewar's. We arrived at Udaipur at 6am and the hotel manager offered us an early check-in. We were given a temporary room for a couple of hours where we could relax. It took more than a couple of hours and we were informed that we would be upgraded to a heritage suite. I was quite excited as the rooms in the hotel was spacious, beautifully decorated. All the wait was totally worth as the room that was given to us was amazing. This hotel is great for a relaxing stay. The roof top private dinner space makes you feel so special. The food is good and service is also good The only issue we faced was that there some foul smell in the washrooms. May be their water line/pipes are too old which makes it really uncomfortable. Though the hotel staff upon our request cleaned the bathrooms a couple of times and after requesting them they kept the room fresheners as well however this should be done proactively knowing the issue they have at the hotel. This place can be excellent if this is fixed. They have invested so much in the hotel dacor, this would be worth the expenditure. Overall, a relaxing and comfortable stay we had at the Chunda Palace
I arrived at the hotel with my wife and daughter directly from the airport and did not look out for anything extraordinary. Hence pleasantly surprised at the traditional welcome at the reception desk in the late afternoon. For good measure, one lady was from Meghalaya. Nobody here spoke in false English accent. Since our room was not yet ready, we went up to the top floor restaurant to pass the time, and fell in love with the place. Lake Pichola and the Aravali hills bordering it aws shimmering in the late afternoon winter sun, just across. We sat in one of the outdoor canopied porticoes for a refreshing lassi and were loath to go down to our room when it was declared ready. To our surprise the room and bathroom were really worth the trouble of leaving the terrace. Beautifully painted walls, ceiling and the lavish bathroom. I have rarely experience a bathroom with two wash basins, a welcome luxury. After we visited the City Palace we realized the hotel owners had modeled the interiors on the motif, design, colour, brocades, mirror work and furniture of the City Palace. That night we felt as if we were in the Palace itself. The outdoor swimming pool on the terrace and the indoor swimming pool on the first floor would be really tempting in summer. The art masters at a local art gallery certified that the artists who had worked at the hotel were also masters of their work. The dinner experience was memorable largely because of the helpful tips by the steward in choosing the best local cuisine served at the place. We have not tasted better Laval Maas or Maas Thali anywhere else in Rajasthan. The buffet breakfasts had very good variety to suit every taste of India and Europe. The fruit selection and confectionery was the best among all the hotels we stayed in Rajasthan. The stewards were attentive and swift. Live santoor recital during breakfast was also a novelty. Visitors should however not miss the lighted hotel edifice at night from a kilometer away. It looks like a huge Chinese lantern.
Chunda Palace was a last minute decision based on a reccomendation from a localite friend. And trust me, it truly stood by the recommendation. Decently located (especially if you have your own transport). We drove down from Mumbai. But one advice is, once you hit the city of Udaipur, stop relying too much on the GPS and ask the locals or the hotel itself on the best route to take, to get here. Our GPS (both Google maps powered as well as the car's onboard mapmyindia powered ones) took us through the original city's roads that kept getting smaller until the SUV almost brought the entire city to a halt Was truly a scene straight out of a movie with women folk and men alike popping up their heads out of every window, door, house and shop amused at the three specimens who'd decided to take this big car into a route meant for bikes and horses at best. Though what struck us was, no one was ever rude to us (this I've begun noticing in most tourist driven cities where the locals understand the importance of taking care of tourists like us). Finally took us a couple of hours and waking up every person in Udaipur from their afternoon to finally reach the destination Hungry as hell the food at chunda palace is good, authentic and value for money. Quantities are decent. Though the restaurant staff prefer that you are white skinned and a foreign tourist. Rooms are spacious and intricately filled with genuine Rajasthani art, painstakingly done up walls and yet loaded with all the moderns. The hotel has two pools, on the roof and one indoor. Opt for the rooftop pool, water looked more cleaner. Hit beverage quantities are superb. My wife wanted tea, I wanted coffee and kiddo wanted chocolate milk. We got out of the pool and ordered all three and what we got were one whole kettle of each. And just out of that cold pool sitting on the terrace, was really the most perfect thing to see and feel We spent a lot of time outside though one whole day we did end up simply unwinding at the hotel too. If you plan to do a city tour, best to leave your own car at the hotel and walk outside to the rickshaw stand. Hakimji 09829276923 is your man to seek. Charged us just Rs 300. To take us to four destinations including the lunch break and brought us back to hotel. You may have to bargain. Though he also adds up as a superb guide. Tip him, he'll also take you to shopping places (though it might be to places where he gets a cut) They do have a small nicnac shop on the ground floor as well as a newly opened spa. Though best left for the foreign tourists ( crazy about Indian massages) to use. Didn't quite find it too authentic or the real deal. The gym could truly see a revamp and some fresh unbroken equipment. We decided to pack ourselves lunch from the hotel on our way back - the best thing we did. Royally packed jumbo sandwiches and burgers that took and effort to wrap-up. And any day better than the other food alternatives on the road until you hit Gujarat All in all, a superb trip - a good value for money hotel !.
This was our first visit to Udaipur and after doing a lot of research on Hotels and places to stay with, we shortlisted Chunda Palace for a 2 night stay at Udaipur Though we found our way to the hotel through the narrow lanes of Udaipur, cutting right through the main market, the hotel actually is easy to reach with good highway connectivity. The hotel is right next to Trident Some of the amazing aspects about Chunda Palace is the great service, very friendly staff, a great ambience and true feel of Udaipur with Chunda Palace being an original palace. And the hotel being 5 floors, stands tall and provides some of the most breathtaking views of Udaipur The place has 2 pools, one indoor (1st floor) and one outdoor on 4th floor. 4th floor also has the restaurant and the bar. There are some nice arrangements for outdoor seating and the staff is happy to serve outside I have deducted a few points on the room, as the Jacuzzi was not working. But apart from that the rooms are fantastic and spacious. The beds are huge (that is coming from a 6ft tall guy) and very comfortable One of the best part of the hotel, is the 5th floor where the hotel serves Dinner Being on the 5th floor, the terrace provides some of the most exquisite views during the night and you can see City Fort, Lake Pichola, Taj Hotel and Jag temple completely lit up during the night. The food is served with some great live music with artists who come from a family of musicians What will truly stay with us is the experience that the staff provided us on our 2nd day. We had actually reserved a corner table for dinner at 9 pm, but when we went there, the table was occupied. The staff said that they had the booking for 8 pm. After not being so happy with the situation, me and my wife settled on a table While we were trying to settle into the situation, one of the staff members approached us and said that they have arranged a table especially for us on the 6th floor (which was not operational fully). They had actually arranged a very private dinner for us on the rooftop and we had a personal butler at our service, who was of course one of their most amazing staff members Not only did they arranged a private dinner, they also arranged for live music for us, which my wife being a disciple of Indian classical music, thoroughly enjoyed The Chef came and met us and explained about different cuisines which they prepare and the specialties. The food was excellent and with live music and surreal views, we have asked for more The dinner ended with a special dessert (on the house) one of the experiments of the chef, which he was very kind to explain to us The dinner came to an end, with the Hotel Staff giving us an experience of a lifetime and making Udaipur a truly romantic destination for us We could not thank the staff enough. What they did was beyond their call of duty, and they leave any stone interned to make Udaipur and Chunda Palace a lifelong memory for us. Cheers to the staff.
