About The Serai
Kapila Wilderness Retreat is situated on the banks of river Kabini in the vicinity of Nagarhole and Bandipur wildlife reserves. Together, Nagarhole & Bandipur spreads over 1500 sq km of tropical forests and the two parks are separated by the river. An outdoor gazebo-styled restaurant rustles up vegetarian and non-vegetarian fare. Activities at the resort include boat & jeep/bus wildlife safaris; wildlife film screenings; nature walks; kayaking, sailing, boating; cycling; bonfires etc. Best time to visit is Sept-Feb, though one can witness one of the largest congregations of Asiatic elephants in the dry summer months till May.
Rooms & Amenities
19 rooms and a villa scattered along the river bank provide accommodation. The furnished rooms have attached baths and verandas that offer a view of the backwaters. Though basic first aid and medication is available, it is advised to plan for any special medication you might be regularly on - the nearest pharmacy is 30 km away. Warm clothing is recommended during the monsoon and colder months, while dress codes for forest visits are: Khaki, green, or such dull colours and shoes. Smoking in the park and flash photography is not allowed since they tend to disturb the animals. Domestic pets not allowed.
