Citadel belonged to the Adil Shahi Dynasty and was built by Yusuf Adil Shah. It has many palaces, gardens and halls, including Bara Kaman, Jala Manzil, Sat Manzil and the Gagan Mahal. Premises of the edifice also has a 100 yards wide ditch, which was earlier used to supply water.
